A friend is thinking of buying a ferrari and he brought this one to my attention. It definately needs work, which he knows and is ready for, but I told him to be careful. The good thing is that it is being sold by a dealership. Does anyone know anything about this car and whether or not it is worth the discount? I am not educated to the ins and outs of the 348. Are there any good threads about maintenance for this model. Thanks and any info on this car that is not posted by the dealership would be greatly appreciated.

Unless your friend can do alot of the mechnical and body work, I wouldn't recommend buying the car. Replacement parts can add up to alot of money and it seems like that car has been used and abused. It looks like a hornet's nest! For another $15K, he can buy a fairly sorted 1990 348.

    Lenny,
I've been looking for a 348 TB (90-94) for 2 weeks now and found only TS's. I insist on a TB but for no avail. Do you know of any?

The only one I found was shrowded with mystery when I inquired about it... they said the owner does not know if he wants to sell it!

Dean, Sorry but I dont know of any TBs, but I searched for my TS for about 1 year before I bought one from a fellow f-chatter. There is alot of garbage out there. Good luck in your search. The search is half the fun. Once you find the one, make sure you get a PPI. I have had mine for about 2 months and it is an incredible car to drive. You won't believe the stares it get when I drive it around.

Unless you can do all the work yourself.... IMO avoid that car.

Seems to me, the dealer has already decided not to fix it, but to sell it as is. Even if it a customer car, the dealer could buy it from the customer,... fix it, and sell it for more. The dealer has already figured out that repairing it is a financial loser. And the dealer can fix it much cheaper than the average owner (assuming you're not doing the work yourself). The dealer's labor costs are only the techs wage, and the dealer can likely get parts cheaper than the average joe.

DrS, I went there and sent Steve an email. Told him you sent me. Hopefully he can find one soon. Thanks.

Lenny, thanks for your reply. I'll keep looking.

Thanks. That 348 page looks really useful PAP. He's a pretty industrious guy and likes working on stuff so he doesn't think all the maintenace will be an issue. Anymore thoughts?

Personally I would stay away from that car. Too many unknown problems. If it had just sat and needed some belts and hoses, that would be better IMHO. This car smells of deferred repairs, and a whole family of electrical gremlins. Unless your friend is an electrical expert I would recommend against.
