I emailed Rob and he said he would keep an ear out for interest. i know that a lot of the F-Chatters here own (or at least admire) German cars: BMW, Audi, P-Cars, Mercedes. Would you guys be interested in a German car sub-forum in this section?

I think it is a good idea and here is why. I own a Lamborghini, an Alfa Romeo and a Porsche. I hang here and visit and post here because I like it here. The information and content is top notch. Many owners of Ferrari and Lamborghini own German cars and why not have more great content about this great marque as well? I am not that excited about ANY Porsche sight out there, so again, why not here? Just my .02 :)

Kind of torn, honestly I'm fine with things how they are, most of the other sub forums are Italian manufacturers, and then we have this section for anything else. I love our Porsche picture thread, and that gives me enough Porsche. :)

Agreed. I think this section does a good job of covering everything non itialian, but at the same time I do love German cars. I think it would be successful regardless..

The reason I asked Rob about it was that there seemed to be a high percentage of German car owners (and threads) among F-Chatters and the caliber of discussion here would be far higher than on any of those other forums. There are other non-Ferrari Italian Marques with sub-forums here and this is in no way meant to supplant Ferrari related discussions just meant to provide a more focused outlet.

Also, I am of the tow birds one stone camp to. I would rather just stay here and discuss other European cars rather than go somewhere else.

Two birds with one stone is true enough. It's also true that it will bring a broader audience. Go read 6speed and see if you think they will be additive to the content of FChat.

This section is already "Cars, Motorcycles, Boats, & Planes", which is implicitly "non-Italian cars". I simply don't see a need for an extra forum when any such thread could simply be posted here.

No disrespect to any fine German car, but this site is firstly Ferrari, then Italian cars, and then things wooden (;)). I think Corvettes and others get plenty of mention and enthusiasm here. No need for a Vette nor Porsche sub-forum; and I do like these things.

I come here to talk about Italian cars, German cars are great but they don't catch my interest one bit.

    I vote no.

No one would be forcing you to talk about German cars. There's a Maserati/Alfa/etc Italian forum here that most don't post in because they're not forced.

Oh yeah! I would love that. It would help other people, who also own Mercs, BMWs, Audis, etc, but don't want to deal with the BS, that goes on in the other dedicated forums.

Example: I joined MBworld.org, and said that my family had an Audi, but I was a Merc fan in my introduction thread, and they were banging on about bisexuals, and other ****, like that for over 4 pages. And how Audi's suck, and Mercs were the way to go. Fchat doesn't have as much BS, as those stupid Merc. forums.

Definitely, why shouldn't we give it a try?

If it doesn't work just get rid of it again

If expansion of the Website's audience is important, then it would be a good idea.
I dont know how much effort would be involved.

And if you are not interested you may simply ignore it. It would not detract from the main Forums and is simply a more focused version of this sub-forum which already contains numerous German auto posts.

This is Ferrari Chat. Not 6speed o/l. We already have enough 17y/o members who have driven EVERY production car in the world. The site is already slooowly changing, and not for the better. Just my .02.

Lots of overlap among the Italians -- they're all exotics and owned by the same bunch of automotive masochists.

There's already Rennlist for Porsches; great forum, probably the only one you need, and it has the P-car experts already. I think we're OK with the 'Other cars' section as it is. We'd probably be doing Porsche enthusiasts a disservice by not referring them to the proper board for in-depth stuff. My two deutschmarks...
