I have a new 3rd gen Nano that I got for Christmas. It worked fine until earlier today when I synched it to add new music. My iTunes now tells me that I need to 'restore' the iPod (which I've done countless times). I then get the message that the iPod is being restored to factory settings and is restarting. The iPod restarts itself, the iTunes tells me (again) that it has detected an iPod in recovery mode and it needs to be restored. I've been through this circular routine about 10 times. I've updated my iTunes to the latest version, and I've updated my iPod to the latest version. My iPod now has nothing on it, and I can NOT get it to work. The Apple website is no help.

    Ideas?

I got it figured out. Had to reassign the drive on the PC, it appears I had too many external drives plugged in and the iPod was trying to be 'F', conflicting with a network drive.

    What fun.

I don't have a problem with Windows, but I'm on Windows 2000, with no plans to change.
I do have two legit copies of XP Pro, but have no real reason to 'upgrade'.

I CAN tell you this: I will go MAC before I EVER go Vista.

I wonder if anyone could give me a hand here, I thought I'd post in this thread instead of starting a whole new one.

My iPod Nano G2 just conked out on me. It turned very hot around the click wheel, hot enough to burn. Won't turn on, or be recognized by the computer, although when connected it does say "One of the USB devices is malfunctioning" and it makes the sound that it's connected.

I've tried turning the hold button on and off, pressing all the buttons, and the center button and Menu buttons simultaneously all to no avail.

Any and all ideas would be most appreciated!

No, impossible! All Mac products are free of any bugs, glitches, or problems. You must not be hip enough to make it work the way it is obviously supposed to. I suggest you go down to the Apple store and get one of those lanyards with the VIP style passes on them. You will be one of the chosen ones, and it should work after that.
