I need to contact an IRS agent that can help me get in touch with an IRS field agent in N. CA. that can help Melodie out to settle a large tax debt that her ex-restaurant manager left her with. My understanding is that when you get a field agent involved, they can get things done. In parallel to that, I also understand that such a field agent is able to start a process to go after the parties that were involved in handling the books that tanked her so deeply. (She had a manager that she trusted and IMO, he was an idiot ****** that did not run the tax part of her business properly....to the tune of $250K of back debt!).

If you are an IRS agent that can help or know somebody, PLEASE drop me a PM, as I'd like to get this settled so Melodie can move on with her life.

    Thanks in advance,
    Pete

As far as I can tell you need to get her an attornie. A field agent will most likely tell you to pay up and shut up. There job is NOT to help her out of the problem.

she needs a tax attorney, IRS agents are not understanding or sympathetic of back debt they just want their $$$, plus the days of the friendly IRS are gone now in that past few years, that $250k is probably $500k now with penalties and interest with a lien filed so she will never be able to own RE.

That big of a debt I am suprised they are not knocking on her door, the statute of limitations is 10 years from when the lien is filed FWIW, know matter who is at fault all partners are responsible for the businesses debts even though she may have been taken advantage of unfairly, thats the way they look at it.

Like the others have said, you need to call a tax atty. DO not go to the IRS yourself. Dont do it, dont even think about it.

    Get a lawyer fast.
NEVER talk to the IRS. Repeat after me. NEVER talk to the IRS.
Send an EA, CPA, or attorney. They are not your friends and while they may be sympathetic, they still want the money. Perhaps they would discuss an offer in compromise to settle it. Get a tax attorney.
