That looks like Howard Turnley's former car, very nice. I saw that car at Stanford back in the 80's and knew I had to have one.

One of the few cars that looks good from every angle,a Bertone masterpiece, much better than the Miura IMO.

I tried to get someone to follow up on the Vermont car with no luck, it could still be outside :-(( Hopefully it is inside now.

It looks like its been priced as a nearly complete concours car which is rarer than the USD 352000 one so currently the more or less the same value - whether anyone will agree depends on if one thinks the market will peak before the restoration is complete....

If you read lower in the auction it says 250,000. and that is about right for that car considering it would be 300 + completed. Could be a good buy for someone who likes detail work. I just finished one very similar to it.

I came across this old thread while trying to do some research on an Iso Grifo that I own 081D.

I believe it once belonged to Mike Hailwood while he lived in South Africa from 1966-70 but I would love to get some more information. The original colour was white - it's currently painted red.

    Thanks for any help

See post 30 he owned more than one but crashed both. I would guess it was 162D because that was crashed into a Water Buffalo.

Your car 081D was used in the Beatles movie Magical Mystery Tour

Thanks for your response. I think the car used in the Magical Mystery Tour was the yellow one that was sold at auction last year - I have also read somewhere that it was also the car that was very badly damaged in the accident in the water buffalo accident - although that wasn't mentioned in the auction catalogue.

    Thanks again for the pictures

Sorry, your correct I got them backwards, that would mean your car was crashed into a stone wall, Hailwood again!

Built 12-28 -1966 4 speed 350 HP engine 3.07 rear engine someone by the name of Bucks owned it in England.

You should be able to find out more at Isobizchat.com

I wil register with isoizchat.com to see if I can get any more information - thanks for the picture - thankfully the encounter with the wall was a lot less dramatic than the water Buffalo smash. Do you know where the picture originally came from?

That picture was taken at the motorcycle race track if you notice the car is wearing EE plates these were from Italy and used when a car was leaving Italy. I think it means "esporto esterno"
