I was wondering if there are any other Hendrix fans here... Hendrix was the MAN! Voodoo Child is the best song IMO.

He's the reason why I picked up the guitar in the first place. Absolutely LOVE his music & he's one of the few artists that I never get tired of listening to.

    Of course.

Being an old guy though, I have most of his stuff on vinyl, then later added cds.

I have passed my Hendix collection to my 17 year old son, who likewise would love to sound anything like Hendrix on his guitar.

Hendrix, Eric Clapton in his Cream days, Led Zepplin, all great stuff.

Who'd have thought Hendrix would cover a Bob Dylan song and make a hit out of it. Well, top 50 or so.

Living in Seattle all my life - I've been a fan since his first album. Saw him in person at the old Sicks Stadium (where the original Seattle MLB team the Pilots played). It was raining that day but he was still fantastic! He thought his performance was poor and as he left the stage he said "I'll be back - it'll be better next time". Passed two years later....never did return. As a side note; his father used to cut my Grandmothers yard. I remember seeing checks on her kitchen counter made out to Al Hendrix. Pretty cool!!

Yeah, Red House is sure good for the soul. I still think that the Live at Monterey is one of the best live performances. Axis is my favorite album. But the Wind Cries Mary is still my favorite song because it was the first song that I ever listened to... whoops gotta go. Gotta go work the grill.

I like Jimi. Best version of Voodoo Child is a tossup between him and Stevie Ray Vaughan

I'm going to die the only man who has never even tried to play guitar. :D

picked up a compilation album - "Jimi Hendrix: Blues" - unbelieveable - never leaves my 6-cd changer. Red House, Mannish Boy, Bleeding Heart - Hendrix' tribute to Muddy Waters, Elmore James, Guitar Slim, etc.

If you like Hendrix, you must get this. The case says 1994 MCA

thanks!!! both are 1969, the triple pick up "Black Beauty" is heavy as hell but has a evil tone and sustain. the cherry custom is very light and absolutely SCREAMS like a Tubi on a V12. the Strat is a 61 custom shop Reissue with many special options. i had a friend in college that found a 59 les paul at a garage sale and took it to Manny's in new york. $$$$$$$ at least he let me borrow it and play it for a whole day!

Trivia: In 1969, Seattle Pilots were American League expansion franchise. Sick's Stadium was enlarged to seat 25,000, but the Pilots never played to a full house, and eventually went bankrupt. After being baseball-less since '66 (Braves went to Atlanta), Milwaukee bought the team in 1970 - named 'em the Brewers.

Owned since their brief existence - a few pieces of Pilots collectibles - baseball cards and a couple of small patches (patches are much, much harder to find).

Just listened to Electric Ladyland yesterday driving home - great album . . . oops CD. Saw Robin Trower at a small club called, My Fathers Place, on Long Island, in the late 70s.

The band I was in during the late sixties did all his songs. when we were invited to do two songs on the "Celebrity telethon" on the Ed Sullivan Show, I picked "Foxy Lady" and "Purple Haze". It was a lot of fun meeting celebs.

Steve Lawrence and Edie were hosting when we were on. Being on that stage, with the TV camera moving around was some experence. I was the lead singer and had to be told to watch the lights on the cameras to know which one was broadcasting.

Anyway, Hendrick's and his left handed Strat was some of the best stuff out there.

If still alive, who would be the hottest guitar player: Hendrix or SRV? I think that Satriani tried to mix the two with his style, which is decent, but probably could not have the pazzaz of the prior two.
