Any known SF90 Spider production delays?

Are there extended delays with other models from Ferrari? That is an incredibly long wait for a car. I wonder how long Ferrari expects its customers to wait. I know of 3 on the waitlist for the SF90 Spider that are ready to drop off the list at my local dealer.

 

I understand that the last F8 Spiders are still being made, along with 812 GTS and Portofino Ms. Dealer received one 296 coupe and said it will be a while before it receives the next one. Ferrari's production line is very flexible, but I wouldn't want to be responsible for planning production. Maybe when all F8 Spiders, 812 GTS, and Portofinos are finished, and then SF90 Spiders, Ferrari can ramp up production on the newer models. Also, it is hard to say how dealer manages its allotment. Of the 3 on the waitlist that you mention are ready to drop off, does one person complain to dealer, and dealer gives her or him next allotment, and pushes me back because I haven't frequently spoken up? At one time it sounded pretty certain that I would receive the car last fall. Obviously that won't happen even this year. From the number of SF90 Spiders for sale on Cars.com (around 12) it seems that in general SF90 Spider deliveries to the US have been slow. I think Cars.com shows over 83 Stradales for sale.

 

When I inquire about the status of my car they respond it’s out of their hands. They blame Ferrari. I do know the dealer encourages customers to put down deposits on multiple cars so that might be gumming up the system as well.

They aren’t even done with SF90 coupes. Mine just finished last week and is finally on the boat on it’s way to me. Pretty sure mine isn’t the last coupe to be built.

Funniest thing about it is I actually ordered my SF90 a few months before my 296, but my 296 arrived a month ago. My coupe should be here by 1 July (my estimate).

 

You must have one of the handful of 296s. Yours wasn't the black one with the custom exhaust put in by Emelia Hartford and her crew, was it?

 

No. Mine is Rosso Corsa. It arrived around the same time she posted the initial video of her receiving the black one for the exhaust.

 

Was told by the dealer to expect my Spider early ‘25 or late ‘24. My deposit was 12/21, ugh.

Frankly I’m surprised the model production will run that long.

 

That is even longer than me, though my deposit was around April or May in 21. But since I last spoke with my salesman in the beginning of May, who then told me October 2023 build and Jan/Feb 2024 delivery, he was supposed to send me the last specifications for me to review and approve before they were locked in. So far he hasn't done that, so there must not be a rush on that. What prompted my call to him at the beginning of May, was that in the My Ferrari App, at the end of April, my SF90 spider (with initial specs) was dropped from My Garage. Prior to that it would show the car, and say "waiting" and no VIN. Since it was dropped, I thought that activity on my car was starting, or I wasn't getting a car. The SF90 spider still doesn't show in My Garage. Does your SF90 spider still show in your "My Garage"? Also, considering your moniker, do you have an association with the school in Raleigh?

 

I just checked and the Spider is still on the waiting list. My experience with that site does not engender confidence though.
I graduated State back in the 70s although I haven’t lived in NC since the 80s.

 

Thank you for your response. In the early-mid 80's I went to law school in Durham, but did buy a NC State t-shirt when Jimmy V. and team won NCAA basketball championship. Also, my former CEO, Jim Owens (Caterpillar) has a strong association with NC State.

 

Few Spiders arrived at local dealer - my spec went into Ferrari few months ago - dealer said spring but who knows it's been sitting in same status for awhile.
Deposit long ago but didn't finalize- few others got bumped in front. Learned my lesson - finish spec and make it easy on the dealer when they get the call.

 

The VIN of my Spider was displayed in the APP in September. He should come in October. Have a picture from the production so far. This was uploaded to the app in November. Since then no news. But don't stress about the car either. Think there will be a part missing from the supplier.

 

Heard that a handful of spider orders will not be fulfilled despite showing up in your app. Just confirm with your dealer.

My car finished end of April. Haven’t gotten the last pic yet, nor has it shipped.

I heard the same. Over committed on purchase orders/deposits and will not be able to produce all the cars they promised. Quietly trying to get some to back out.

My car was supposedly launched in October for production - nothing showing nor no news. Been sitting at 10R for months and months now.

 

Just a thought - I wonder if Ferrari wanted to expedite the run of SF90 Stradale’s with the market on them softening substantially to avoid a similar situation with the 812 Superfast. If I recall, pre pandemic, the 812 Superfast market for secondary market cars was quickly ~$100,000 back of MSRP and quite a number of people backed out of fulfilling their orders. If that is the potential trend line, you wonder if the factory’s play was to finish the coupe run as soon as possible and delay Spiders further to avoid cancelled coupe orders.

Correct. Showed in the Ferrari App too for awhile with my spec. Now, shows nothing regarding my SF90 Spider but shows both my 296 GTB and GTS spec. My dealership has told me the App always has glitches and not to go by that.

 

Haha, I’m with you man. I will happily oblige to that trade.

The frustration may lie with the notion that you have to have “kept” your SF90 Stradale or Spider to qualify for the VS. Well I only moved on from SF90 Stradale because I was told my SF90 Spider was arriving within the next six months. That was back in Spring of 2022 where the expectation was at the latest my Spider would be late Summer/Fall 2022. Spider production being delayed so much and coupes getting priority creates the interesting dilemma where I simply may not qualify for the SF90 VS despite being someone who purchased both the coupe and spider. We’ll see I suppose. It is what it is.
