    Hi gang,

Long time lurker first time poster. Looking to purchase a 355 spider / 6-speed manual /rossa corsa / tan interior / with around 25k miles or less in good condition with service records. Year does not matter to me. Looking at the market I'm thinking I can find one for about 52 to 55k...let me know if i'm off. Please let me know if you have a good lead. I've been checking the usual places...ebay,autotrader,.cars.com and the for sale section.

Read quite a bit on the car and know the good and bad about the car. I test drove a couple a last year back and loved it but I couldn't pass up on another car.

    Please let me know.

    Thanks,
    Sean

Your location would be helpful, some areas have a lot for sale others not so much.
Another option is Hemmings limited number there, DuPont Registry is usually on the spendy end. I just bought a 97 F355 spider, 6 speed red with tan with 28,000 miles on it. Major service within the last 2 years at a local independent shop with a Ferrari tech and excellent references. It has 360 modular wheels on it, Fabspeed headers and Nouvalari exhaust. It was bought in the mid 50s, and I have spend a few grand getting some minor issues sorted out.

You just missed what appeared from a distance to be exactly what you wanted. Ebay sale so maybe it fell through as many do. Contact the seller. Heres the thread on it

Enzojr. - I'm located in the Atlanta area. drbob - I saw that listing but it was an F1 so I decided not to bid...but it was hard not to. I decided to stick to what I want and wait for a manual. Hope the new owner got a good car.

Sorry. Forgot about the f1 thing on that car

I looked for about three months very hard for mine and almost got an f1 because I was getting frustrated not finding a stick.

You are right to wait for what you want. It's out there. Good luck.

I have the exact car you're looking for, but it's not for sale. I got lucky and had someone tip me off to a car that was not advertised. Put the feelers out, especially here on Ferrari Ads. Post a WTB ad with your preferences.

Also, condition is everything. I would not let mine go for that $. Good luck.

Welcome, and hold out for what you want. Average private party sale prices my be around the mid $50's for what you are looking for but keep in mind this would be an "average" car. What I mean is the average F355 sold needs things addressed either cosmetically or service wise so expect to spend more than the purchase price. That is unless you find a true "nothing needed car", but that wouldn't be in the mid $50's.

Keep looking and enjoy the hunt!

    Thanks for the tips guys.

Couple of weeks ago I found one near LA but it sold pretty quickly. It had everything i wanted but i couldn't find the time to fly out to the other side of the coast in time and i didn't want to buy it without seeing it. I thought about having the mechanic who was performing a ppi give me an honest opinion on the condition of the car but I didn't want to risk it. Anyone buy a 355 unseen and regret it?

I live on the east coast and I was all over the map when hunting. I was ready to buy one from CA sight unseen but just didnt feel comfortable doing that. I actually saw only two. One failed a PPI and the other I own. The one I own I flew to KY to see it first. Oops. Forgot another I saw in person as well. It was an F1 and glad I didn't buy that although it was a beautiful car.

For me, I would find the time and a few bucks and go see it. The money for the travel is immaterial compared to a mistaken purchase.

it's a used car and pictures can hide quite a bit. If you don't see it in person, you will end up with suprises when you get the car. You might be fine with the suprises, but if you saw them first (prior to purchase) it just feels better than after...

    Sean,
There was a green one for sale in Atlanta a couple of weeks ago; it was in need of a belt service. Did you see that one? I was considering have a friend check it for me, but decided to stay closer to home.

Bob - Glad you found the one you wanted. I always hear that "the chase" was part of the fun but not for me. Pretty stressing...just want to get a buy it and enjoy it.

Dave - you're probably right. A few years back I bought a Porsche 930S and I did view it in person before purchase. I guess I was so excited I missed a few small dents here and there and it sucked when i noticed it in my garage. I tried to think back to figure out how in the hell I missed it but sh$t happens I guess.

Richard - Not a fan of green but thanks for the lead. For a first Ferrari, looking for a Rossa corsa.

I've bought all my Ferraris unseen since there is nothing around me up here in Montana and my schedule would not allow for enough time to go looking in person.
I definitely had a few surprises when they arrived, but nothing major on the 348 or 355 and I paid pretty low prices for them so I was expecting a little. Very happy with both those purchases.
The one that really was bad was a car I already knew was wrecked. I bought two 360s and was going to rebuild one out of the two cars. One arrived much worse then the pictures or the seller let on. That whole project is in debate now because of it with A LOT of money tied up in the cars.

So I think it's pretty much a crap shoot going sight unseen, It all depends on how honest the seller wants to be.
