    Greetings.

I'm going to be flying up on business Feb 8 & 9, and if all goes well I should have the 9th pretty much free. I'll be in downtown Seattle (near that cool library), but won't have a car.

What is within walking distance, and worth seeing? I'm not really into cuisine, so fancy restaurants hold little appeal.

I appreciate any tips -- last time I was there, I didn't have even an hour to look around :(

    Thanks
    Tillman

Go to Westlake Center in downtown then take the monorail to Seattle Center. You could visit the Experience Music Project if you're into music.

Spend an afternoon at the Pike Place Market.........you won't regret it. Definitely a Seattle Icon.

Ask where Belltown is and you might find some of the "F" crew hangin' at some of the "markets" there.:p

Seriously, there are a number of club members that live in town that could probably help out in the tourism dept.

Don't forget the Space Needle (Seattle Center) if you want some good panorama shots of the city, Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains and Cascade Mountains.

On a clear day you can see Mount Rainier and Mount Baker as well.

Too bad you won't be around longer. I could introduce you to Carly at the "Big Giant Coffee Pot" in Arlington.

Seattle is a great place - Pike Place Market is the place to go. If you like aircraft the Museum of Flight is there as well. Would suggest my old girlfriend, but.....

Breakfast club on Wednesday? That would be fun after rush hour was over. A run up to Newcastle Country Club for lunch would be a great place to go. He wouldn't forget it!

Dang! My car is still torn apart!

Sounds good to me but it'd be better if someone who knew where they were going would lead. I'm pretty clueless on that side of the water!!

    Thanks for the advice/offers.

I'd hesitate to make any plans with you guys on Wed, because I might have to work. Hopefully I can get the new team members up to speed on Tues, but there's a reason I'm there an extra day :)

I'll know more on the 8th. Thanks again.

If you're going to go up the Space Needle, I think it's $9-10... it's almost a better idea to just go up to the restaurant for lunch - but I'd only do that if I had an expense account!

Just took some relatives up last summer....more like $17. Forget it...easier to run over to Highland Drive on Queen Anne Hill....it's free and almost as dramatic a view. The restaurant still sucks big time.

Yeah, it does suck... I remember my $14 order of prawns - THREE FRICKIN PRAWNS! That means they're charging about $364 a pound for some moderately oversized shrimp.

    Yo Tillman,

So you are gonna be back in Seattle again, eh? Nice. I would agree with others and stay away from Space Needle. Totally not worth seeing, imo. The music experience, as someone suggested is ok, but very short time.

The monorail is cool, but it only goes a block or so. LOL.
Nothing there, that you don't have in Dallas.

However, I suggest, Pike place like others have suggested. THe fish and the fresh flowers are cool. But after 1 hour it gets boring.

I say, sleep in, then go out to first street and check out the clubs. Take a Seattle girl home, have some fun. That is how you remember downtown seattle ;)

Now that you go often, mix it up. New chick every time. Is is easy for out of towners to pick up chicks, and especially for a true pimp like yourself.

Good luck, and report back on the success.

Thanks for the recommendation, Ryan, but there's multiple reasons why that would be a bad idea for me right now.

Besides, the only people willing to come home with me are legally obligated to do so!

    :D :D :D

Got to take those Pimp lessons from the Daddy when the Scuderia Rampage rolls around :)

Well, the telcos have screwed up and so my trip will be compressed. No free time this visit. Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll follow up on them when I come out again.

A friend of mine took his new in-laws, just in town from Memphis, up there and told them he was buying. His father in-law ordered a cheeseburger. He told him to order whatever he wanted but Dad insisted. After some arguing back and forth Dad finally said, "I'm ordering the cheeseburger and that's that! I want to be able to go back home and tell people what a $15 cheeseburger tastes like!" Pretty funny!

The last time I ate up there was 1971. I see things haven't changed much.

The concessions on the observation deck were surprising. Starbucks of course (or was it Seattles Best?), ice cream bars, biscotti etc............................

I went up there during Festa Italiana . Beautiful day.
