People on here always have cool new gadgets...is anything new and cool out? Phones, handhelds, etc etc...Thanks. Kyle
Pioneer NVIC-R1 (something like that)- in dash 6.5in monitor w/ full GPS, DVD, MP3, measures the performance of your cars etc Creative Zen- significanlty cheaper than the iPod, much better sound quality, video version available TomTom Go- great stand alone GPS system, very simple, anyone should be able to use it.. The second two are under $1k-- what other cool toys for a similar price?
Portable Satellite radio recievers. Bergens automatic hard beverage dispenser (a dorm room MUST, or office must). Plasma TV (LG 60" HD would be nice) Pa1mONE Treo 650 (yay, finally media player and BLUE TOOTH!) (PS Im selling my Treo 600) A DVD video and audio jukebox would be cool. Something that comes with DVDs preloaded in and plays them back on command. Having every DVD title ever printed would be cool too. Having it interface with iTunes for music would be even cooler. Having it interface with NetFlix or MovieLink for new releases would be even cooler! ok, sorry bout the tangent. An automatic condition sensing humidifyer for my humidor would be nice too.
Climaxx beads. The absorb extra humidity and release humidity when needed. Available in 65% and 70% versions.
I spelled it wrong. After searching with it spelled the other way I found another type of beads. lol http://www.climmax.com/
with the way gadgets and electronics are going I'm eagerly awaiting the release of the first cell phone/mp3 player/camera/personal organizer/basketball, shouldnt be too far off.
Motorola RazorPhone. I ordered mine already, and the store is saying they will get it by this Wednesday. All I have to do is to switch SIMM card from my 600. I will miss color coded lighting feature... (I think RazorPhone don't have this) I actually liked the size of the RazorPhone, even though it is wider. Much easier to hold. One draw back is that the price of this phone will be lowered by a half by the end of 2005, and I'll probably have another phone that I want by then... I can't think of any other gadgets, but I do want F430 which is at the top of my wish list.
Kenny, just read that you can get TomTom nav software for smartphones. That's really cool--you can take it with you from car to car, you can use it out of the car, and you don't have to worry about it getting stolen or your car getting broken into because of the sat nav unit--since you will be taking your phone with you when you exit the car. And it's cheaper than buying the sat nav unit they sell, so it helps offset some of the smartphone costs if you need to upgrade. Check it out on their site.
Hey Gentry... check out http://www.tomtom.com/products/index.php?Language=4 There is software for devices with gps chips already installed. I tried out the tom-tom trial version on my Palm T3 and was very impressed. It has more features than most oem auto gps systems including the night mode and 3D viewing. Very nice software, but I would recommend just getting the software and purchasing a SD GPS card if your device has a SD slot. The solutions that tom-tom offers are more expensive and usually require use of bluetooth or WIFI which sucks power. Good luck and pm if you need any more info. Paul
Looks like they can be had for about $1350 from random sites on the net- not bad considering it's an all inclusive GPS/DVD/MP3/etc player- probably buying it for the holidays..
Yes but all this is not the ultimate as everybody will have the same thing...that's boring. Check out this little thing i'm just building, designed first for Porsche but it can fit in any car...the system remains discreet there's no ugly buttons everywhere around the screen and gets the real performance of the car because it works apart from OBD. This protocol is so lazy that it can't get events as they occur. OBD = 3 Hz, My system = 5 Khz in other words in one hand you have something that will miss events at high revs, on the other hand you just have something which have the performance your car have... http://www.9xx-cars.com and http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/showthread.php?t=172931&page=1&pp=15
I got the RazorPhone yesterday, and so far, so good. Only drawback is that the phone doesn't have anything to attach the strap. Strap is very convenient for me. I just saw a new Sanyo Phone advertised by Sprint. Red one looks very cool. I could slap on F sticker! Too bad they don't advertise what they will release in October then I could wait till now to switched my phone as I got my 600 in October. Well, my wife or kids can use it. I'm surprised that no one mentioned of new lap-top or PDA released for X'mas, but multi-function GPS is popular here. I had the opportunity to import them in the US market, but I declined several years ago as I thought GPS wasn't really necessary here. All street has a sign w/ street name, most road hits a major road eventually, and I didn't think many people will pay more than $1,000 for advanced map!
