They fufilled their half of the bargin.
Bernie and the rain gods let us down.
Can we really expect NBC to rearrange prime time Saturday night on such short notice?

They could move it to NBC broadcast. Based on their ratings, nobody would notice.

The NBC Sports website has the following posted:

So not live, but at least we'll know who starts where before the race kicks off. :)

At least they're showing at some time. Speed wouldn't have ever upset their late night infomercial schedule.

Well, I'll be looking for a web link to watch it live.

Speed lost me to the web a few years back when CBS offered even worse coverage.

Now NBC is giving me a reason to go elsewhere on the 1st race weekend.

BBC is 10X better than Speed / NBC will ever be.

I don't think NBC showed P3 (did I miss it somewhere?)...

F1 is a niche sport in the US. If they want fans for the race,... they better show quali (which is usually far more exciting).

    Strike 1 NBC...

can't believe that they're not going to show Q live. What the heck...

Now the disappointment of moving from Speed is earned, I would have been ok with the change, but come on...

They have so many different channels to air this live, unbelievable.

While I'd love to see Q live you have to be reasonable.
With sponsor commitments its tough enough to change a schedule within a sub-network switching to another network, with its own budget, is much tougher.
NBC Sports is doing its best to accommodate a subset (Q watchers) of a small market (F1 fans).

Exactly. It's not NBC's fault that qualifying was delayed.

I also wonder how many American's that watch F1 live when it's on in the middle of the night. I never do. I DVR everything and watch it the next morning or when I have time.

Now if the DVR program was smart enough to see that a preset show has been delayed, rescheduled or ran late and could reprogram itself I'd be happier.

You don't always set it to include recording the following hour? Learned that function after a rain delay back in '08.

Actually, an hour can still be sketchy - Wanna cover all scenarios? Give the stupid machine at least a couple, just in case....... [Malaysia, two years back?]

I think I may have learnt the same lesson in that race BTW......

    I do.
I wish my machine did it automatically. It would Waste less space and not interfere with other recordings.

    Now for reschedules etc.

I wouldn't contend it's NBC's fault that Q was delayed, but if you choose to acquire the rights to publicize something, and want to bring it to the next level (as they've said they do), you need to at a minimum cover it as completely as the last broadcaster.

Social media makes not airing events live problematic...NBC faced this with the Olympics as well. They of course wanted to show in prime time for ad revenue...ok, it's their business, but I typically didn't watch because at some point during the day I ended up knowing the outcome (couldnt avoid it if you went online).

With quali being on tonight, no ad revenue at stake (airing at 11 central vs 7). If they only had a single channel to work with maybe I'd be more forgiving...but they have at least five. I checked them all...the kicker here is that the flagship NBC channel was airing a rerun of a show called Real American Ninja or something like that. I know the F1 following in the US is limited, but I have to believe there are more of us than the clan watching the reality ninja show...

So, it is now 11:30 PM Florida, I see no F1 coverage on NBC, or anywhere for that matter. That is why NBC stands for Nothing But Crap.

Maybe you have better knowledge of the TV business than I do but as I understand it each of the NBC networks do their own programming and are responsible for their own budgets and ratings. Switching programs between them is not a simple matter.
Take a look at the ratings from the Ninja show and for Q. You might be in for a surprise.

Now they're showing Countdown (for the umpteenth time) even though my DTV program guide says it should be qualifying (repeat) from 12:00 to 1:30.
