I had my dealer's license in the 90's to save the sales taxes flipping cars, and did a lot of car shows. A couple of mine caught the eye of some writers, and made it into 3 issues and a musclecard collection.

Corvette Fever Magazine flew a guy to Dallas to photograph a 1971 LS6 Corvette I had a frame off restoration done on. The photo shows the article signed by Larry Shinoda in 1992, who was the GM designer of the Corvettes then. It was an original, one of 188 Aluminum Head LS6 Vettes, and was owned by a Dallas Veterinarian. I took it by and gave him a ride in it after the restoration, and it brought him to tears. I always told myself to not take on a major restoration project, as the money never works out well, but couldn't resist this one, and yes I did lose my ass on it. That exposure did get in included in the MuscleCards collection, which was cool as well.

The 1970 LS6 Chevelle was one of my longer ownerships, and was so consistent at the drag strips, it was always a blast to drive. The first pic is from a Super Chevy Magazine, at one of their yearly shows at the Texas Motorplex drag strip outside Dallas. I had brought it, the LS6 Vette, a 1971 454 Vette Convertible, and a 1965 396 Vette Convertible to the show, and it was mentioned doing an article about all 4, but never materialized.

The photo from the drag strip was a surprise addition in Musclecar Review Magazine. I guess they shot it at one of the shows.

Anyone else have any cars in a magazine or paper ?

Back in 1993 my new 93 SVT cobra was on the cover of a catalog for Mustangs Unlimited in Connecticut.

it was me doing a big smokey burnout and then a few scattered still shots through out the catalog.

in exchange they gave me a huge discount on parts for the year it was on the cover. Did exhaust, gears, shocks, springs, brakes, shifter, anything you could think of for then period correct mods I did. (I kept all the original parts)

I’ll have to look in my storage and see if I can find a copy and post a pic here

    Yep.

Coker Tire used my 246 GT Dino in its ads for a while.

And when Uro owned it I think more than one article was written.

GT Joey said he used a photo of mine in one of his books.....

My Diablo Roadster was featured in a magazine along with an interview in 2014, have a few copies in boxes somewhere, think the magazine itself went out of business a year or so later.

I was also interviewed about the Diablo for a pilot TV show being pitched to the Speed network that I assumed was never picked up.

Very cool to be in a non-car related magazine with that kind of exposure.

It was cool to be there during the Vogue shoot. It was in the west village in NYC, in an old building that was converted to a wide open space with really wide doors that could be slid open so the car could be driven in. They put my car on go-jacks, so they could move it around without having to drive it. They had tables setup with food - not exactly the pasta and meat dishes a stocky Italian like me finds interesting, but for the size zero models hanging around they enjoyed grazing on the carrots and hummus. I got to hang with them and watched as the photographer setup each scene and called in the model for the pose and shoot. He'd take 1 or 2 photos, then he and his entourage would all stand around the laptop and look at the photos just taken for like 10 minutes mumbling to each other. Then take another shot.

The Jon Stewart show was more entertaining, my wife and I got to hang with the director and camera people, and a bunch of union guys that essentially were there to make sure no other union guys or non-union guys showed up. They filmed the skit on the side street right around the corner from the sound stage the Jon Stewart showed was filmed on. They gave us a tour of the sound stage. The actor that "starred" in the skit was Jason Jones, a really nice guy and very down to earth. Jon Stewart on the other hand came across like a *****, maybe he's a nice guy when you get to know him.
