I called Scottsdale today, they said 5+ years, anyone know of a shorter wait?
CALL SEAN HARRIS AT STEVE HARRIS IMPORTS , UTAH TELL HIM I SENT YA...ONE OF THE HONEST FNA DEALERS AROUND BRUCE
I called them last week, forgot who I spoke with, but he said he gets 10 calls a day asking the same question.
if anyone needs to ask this question, u aint getting on a list. dont take this the wrong way, i am not on the list. jsut dont want to see you guys wasting time and get all worked up.
Okay, brief math lesson -- Facts: 1. There are about 33 Ferrari dealers in the USA. 2. Each dealer will probably get between 6 and 12 F430s in 2005. 3. The best case scenario is that each dealer will get double their 2005 allocation in 2006. Required: Figure out the probability of you getting a F430 at MSRP anytime in the near future, if you are not aready a FOD (Friend of the Dealer.) Dr "Class Dismissed" Who
He told me to buy a 360 and get on the list for the 430 replacement... Maybe that will make you a FOD as you call it...
So this means he makes some $$ off you when he sells you a 360. Then he'll want to get a fee when you consign the 360 for the 430(3 years down the road, maybe). IMO it's just better to wait for a preowned 430 or one that someone doesn't want. I think it ends up working out to be the same $$ outlay vs having to play the dealer game. I'd rather call my own shots but that's just me. I'd be surprised if he would commit to any time frame for a 430 after unloading a 360 on you. It's all a supply vs demand game.
yeah probably at this stage the list is so far out its better to just buy used in a few years. What are peoples thoughts on the value of the 360's as more 430's become available? It seems like a lot of 360's are on the market right now, about 70 on ebay as of yesterday...
This one has been discussed quite a bit. It's hard to say but I don't think the bottom will fall out. It's a hell of a car when you compare to the 430. Yea, the 430 is all that but is it another $100K to $175K better depending on year etc.? Probably not. So I think this will help to keep 360 prices relatively stable. Only time will tell.
HorsemanP, Like it was said above, dealers can only sell in their geographis area, so if you cannot get on with a local dealer, you are out of luck. Can't speak for others, but I know Ferrari of Denver has stopped taking deposits and have moved on to the 430 replacement. I put a deposit down 9/02 for a coupe. I am told I should get one in the first 10. My situation is complicated some by the fact I am first for a stick shift, but they can't predict when the FNA gods will bequeath the first one. I am guessing if you want a 430, your chance to buy one at sticker is long gone. I'm sure there will be plenty available for a ransom, but they will already be titled and technically not new. Dave
How much did you have to put down to get on that successor list? $5K? Also whats the target delivery 2009/2010?
If your farther then 100 miles from a dealer you have the choice of where to shop. If however your in a dealers radius you have to shop there on their list for a new F-Car. If your in the middle of no-where take your pick.
The only problem is will the dealer want to sell to you? By that I mean if they can't necessarily service the vehicle or sell your current whatever and make some $$ then they may figure it's not worth it vs dealing with someone local. On something they can't off they'll sell it to you but on a "hot" car they probably won't. Supply/demand/$$ thing again.
If you put ur name on a list, and put your $5K down, how can they not... I don't think they are going to flat out turn you down...
Just because you're on a list doesn't mean a lot. The list is a fluid thing that is dictated by what kind of customer you have been or maybe will be. Many people who were on a 360 list and that never quite made it to ordering a car were just dropped off for example and not placed in line for a 430. Your best chances are based on what kind of money they've made from you in the past and what they can make off of you in the future. That's why I think that your best bet is to just find a deal when the hype wears off a bit and forget about the games. Probably in another year or so. It's always worth a try to get on some list though as long as your expectations are not too high
