Chicago Motor Cars and Exotic Motors seem to have some fairly reasonable prices on their vehicles in stock. Has anyone ever done business, or dealt with them?

    Thank you in advance, Rodbuster.

Exotic Motors(in Rolling Meadows) has most of their cars serviced at Ed's. They do have some good cars, and some not so good, as they buy most at auction sight unseen.

If you want a PPI on a given car, have them send it to Ed,; he's a straight-up guy and will give you an honest appraisal of it's mechanicals and overall condition.

I'll be at the animal hospital on 64 right next to Chicago Motors this morning in a couple hours, to have my two dachshunds get stitches removed. Thinking of walking over to see if they'll let me look around and snap a few pics. Hopefully my son will be with me so he can see these cars up close

I was in discussions with Joe at Exotic on a 94 348 spider with updated wheels. The story went that the car had been owned and serviced by a mechanic at a local Bentley dealer, the "problem" was that the documentation fo any of that said service never materialized. If you have the papers provide them, if they don;t exist just say so, that's imo. The best advice is that if you are not able to do the work yourself and know what you're getting into, then the service history is the first thing that needs to be fully documented. Next is the PPI to be sure that both it was done right or even done at all. As you'll see from many other posts here, a service just before a sale is often the bare minimum at best. It's an exciting process but just be careful, these cars stir a lot of emotions but you have to pass on some of them to find the right one. Then it's all smiles !!

I think that after visiting a few of these places, that I have answered my own question! Maybe the best auto to buy is a private party vehicle. I wonder if I would have any luck with a WTB post on this forum?

Didn't CMC get banned from 6speedonline? Something must have happened there.

Be careful with Exotic Motors. I enquired about a Z06 they had. Story was it was traded to them for a Mercedes, but carefax showed it was bought recently at an auction and was a repo car.

Not to say they don't have good cars, but get a PPI and know what you are buying.

I was looking at a car a CMC, and inquired about any other fees. I was told by the salesman that there was a $199.00 doc fee. I asked the salesman how that could be, seeing as there is a state law limiting the doc fee to no more than $150.00? After a lot of stuttering, he replied that "the fee was applied to all ebay purchases". I asked how this could be considered an ebay purchase, as I had seen the vehicle on there website, and drove up to see it? He mumbled something to the effect that everyone had to pay it or they would be sued. I must admit, I got a bad feeling about the whole affair, and decided to leave.

I hate to say it, but I get the impression that the game is the same, at the majority of these exotic car "resellers". I don't think I will be giving them my business.

I purchased a 2012 GT-R and it showed up with a broken caliper, dirty and with higher miles than attested to. They refuse to reimburse me for over $2400 worth of damage. I am pursuing my options with the law. BEWARE of Exotic Motors!!!!!!!!!!!
