I've been doing work with computers for over 12 years now i think.. My oldest computer was probably the ELF II from the mid-70's. Among my collection i've got illegal clone Apple II systems, over 20 Macs, a prototype motorola motherboard with a RISC processor but PC style hardware, every Apple newton PDA, and piles upon piles of various PC hardware. the first picture is of my home servers (router, sql server, 320gb file server, sql/web backup server, user public shell server). the second picture is the room I use to store all this stuff. The third picture is my office desk with my dual screen setup and my two laptops. I'd say i have no less than 40 systems in my basement :D

    Sort of.............

I got involved with the first pc's ..... think Tandy, Comodore, etc.

When I started selling computers, Leading Edge, Apple Lisa, Compaq were big sellers.

I've watched the Apple computers grow and many other companies disappear.

I was a Cert. Novell and IBM network installer when they were king.

Now, I don't own any legacy machines. I just upgrade as needed.

The latest computer is a Dell XPS 5 Expected on Thursday:

Start a museum and ask visitors a fee to see your collection...that way you will see some return on investment (next to the porn of course)!

blah, blah, blah............ dual monitors is so yesterday. I've had dual 20" flat screens on my upstairs computer for years.

    24" no centerfold "staple"

Oh, my bad.....Actually this computer will be connected to a 42" plasma. So I guess that's dual monitors.

lol I don't do porn.. Out of all the machines in my collection, that huge compaq server is the most valuable to me as my site was first hosted on it in 2001. I built one of the largest online text file collections and had thousands upon thousands of visits. After 4 years of uptime I had to take it offline while I find a new ISP.

Sadly, my fastest computer is my gateway laptop clocking at 2.2ghz. All my servers are relatively slow with the compaq clocking at 200mhz, the digital tower with dual 266mhz, the black tower with a duron 900... i'm a big collector though so most of my stuff is outdated

Nice collection of Macs you have, I still have my SE20 from 1988. I also just got an IMAC blueberry a couple of days ago, disk drive isn't working though. I'm trying to get it work but it maybe not worth saving.

I just don't get nostalgic for old silicon anymore.

I used to have my old TI 99/4 and accessories stored away, along with the Apple II gs and an Amiga 2500, but frankly I never used the stuff.

I also used to keep piles of older machines, but realized that while NT 3.51 on an DEC Alpha was kinda cool and darned near impervious as a webserver (at the time), I just didn't need it.

Now I tend to keep a whitebox mailserver and a couple of laptops around. Glad the pile of beige boxes is gone :)

i've still got an Apple IIgs and i even run the GS/OS on it which looks just like the early MacOS. One of my big hobbies is collecting operating systems. I've got nearly every version of NT and i've also tried some beta systems like Apple's Rhapsody on my x86 box. My ultimate goal would be to get "star trek" which was Mac System 7 converted to intel but locked in the Apple vault after being completed.

Nope it's an SE/20 or SE. Here a pic with some old game systems in storage. Makes me wonder if it's even worth putting up on EBAY.

I love computers. As of now im looking to buy a new XPS gen 2 laptop, and an XPS gen 5 desktop. Im looking to see if dell can cut me a deal if I buy both at the same time, if not ill wait for some good deal to come along. I helped my sister build her computer a few weeks ago. Thermaltake Tsunami Dream case black/sidewindow. The case is so quiet, like silent. no hum of the fans at all. come cool blue led lights too.

I have an XPS2 laptop.....It is the best

The Gen 5 arrives Weds. Though as of today the XPS600 is out so you won't get a Gen 5.

Good luck on the deal.... I think your best bet is to use the discount coupons.

really tiger will work on pcs? thats cool except i cant stand the IU of macs.

im going to build a new computer next march. im going to do dual core AMD when they switch sockes next year from 939 to M2 so i can get DDR-2 in it. then ill drop in 2 gigs of ram and the best vid card at the time then run to HD's on 74gig raptor and then a 300gig maxitor. its going to be great
