Hi everyone. Anyone else on here into auto detailing? I detail cars for a living but it also serves as a very relaxing hobby for me to help me get my mind off of things.

I'd love to see some detailing related photos if you guys have any (Ferraris or not).

I really do enjoy detailing and would love to answer any detailing questions if you guys have any. I've also got a bunch of tutorials/guides on my blog for any DIYers that want to get into detailing themselves.

Anyways, here are some of the vehicles I've worked on. The Argento Nurburgring F355 Spider is mine.

Very nice. What do you use on the chrome, what type of polish / buffing media are you using and what type of paint sealer is that? Thanks for all the pictures, you do nice work.

What did you use on the F355 exhaust tips and engine bay?

Thanks for the kind words everyone! msdesignltd that paint is absolutely beautiful. Must have been a real treat to wet sand and correct.

On the Cadillac bumpers, I first used 0000 steel wool to clean them up. Then I polished with a Lake Country 3.5 inch wool polishing pad on a Griot's Garage dual action polisher with Wolfgang Metallwerk Compound. I do most of my paint correction work with Flex and Rupes polishers paired with various Lake Country or Meguiar's polishing pads. For polishes, I mostly use brands like Menzerna, Optimum, BLACKFIRE, Meguiar's, and HDCarCare. A lot of my high end customers opt for CQuartz ceramic coating instead of paint sealants. When I do apply a paint sealant, I use something like Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant or CarPro Reload.

The tips were cleaned up with 0000 steel wool and polished by hand using a microfiber towel and Optimum Metal Polish. The engine bay was cleaned with Meguiar's D101 all purpose cleaner and various brushes/towels. I used a steam cleaner to get to the difficult crevices and hard to reach spots. The plastic bits were dressed with CarPro PERL.

Can I ask where you purchase your CQuartz ceramic coating from. Also, what kind of steam cleaner do you use for cleaning the engine? Thanks.

I purchase my coatings from Autogeek.net when they are having a sale. Great site with great customer service. They have sent me many free products to try and post reviews of on their forums.

Keep in mind, paint must be machine polished and wiped down with CarPro eraser (to remove polishing oils) before CQuartz can be applied. I used a Vapor Clean Pro 6 steam cleaner for the engine compartment.

    Really nice work!

I really like detailing my cars, but as I have gotten older I can't stand the vibration from a DA buffer anymore. Makes my hands numb and they hurt for a few days after.

Any suggestions for diminishing this effect?

I bought a Cyclo dual head DA buffer that is supposed to minimize the vibrations because the heads spin in different directions but I havn't tried it yet.

The only solution I have come up with is to do one or two panels a day, just take it slow.

    Thank you all!

The smoothest polishers I have used are the Rupes LHR21 and LHR15 long throw dual action polishers. They're made in Italy and the manufacturing process to get them properly balanced is unbelievable. Many people on the Autogeek forums were in the same boat as you but they are now happy with the comfort of these polishers after buying one. I recommend using a 5 inch backing plate for better control and ease of use. If you use thin foam pads with these machines set to speed 4, you can knock out some pretty severe defects without shaking your arms off. I haven't used a Cyclo personally, but I have used Porter Cable style units which I feel vibrate way too much compared to the more expensive but better balanced long throw polishers. Another product that might make your life a little easier is CarPro Hydro2. It's a touchless "spray on rinse off" paint sealant that contains the same silica content found in products like CarPro Reload and CQuartz. After your car has been washed, you simply spray the product on and rinse it off. The water repelling characteristics are noticeable immediately upon rinsing. It's seriously one of the most fun and easy ways to protect your car. Durability is around 3 months.

You might look into anti vibration gloves to reduce the effects. Workers use similar that operate jack hammers.
