Right, That’s what I’m saying… The actual use case scenario is exceptionally limited and narrow in definition. if I am reading that correctly, simply driving to a service shop is not considered “for maintenance”

Geico was half the price of Grundy on my Portofino for the same coverage. Car garaged in FL

Any updates to this? I've been getting quotes with other insurers due to this thread.

So while I'm fighting with Acuity and Grundy/Philly I bought another '87 GTS and insured with Hagerty. One year, stated value of 100k for 850. Then I doubled insurance on the 348 by adding a stand alone policy with Hagerty for another 850. I don't want to go thru this again. Hagerty is an FCA Partner and I would think that they would honor claims as they stand, for fear of bad Press. I might have to send the car up to M.P.I, since they really know Ferraris.

Sorry to hear you are still fighting what should be a cut n' dry issue. Probably ditching Grundy due to this thread but still researching until my renewal date. That Hagerty rate is very good, every time I try to quote with them for similar coverage, it's sky high.

I'm trying to figure that out myself, I've quoted Hagerty several times the last 5 years and it is always 3x of Grundy.

Collector's insurance is a strange beast. I currently pay $1470/year through Grundy for $165k of coverage. The same coverage through NCM is $1488. American Collectors was around $2800 and last time I quoted through Hagerty it was well over $3000.

My 355 was about $1,000 until it crossed the 25 year mark, now just $400 for $100k with Grundy.

But what are the "use" restrictions? Can't compare premium costs without considering what the "coverage" is.

After this thread I was going to double check, but I didn't think any except mileage. Grundy use to be a sponsor, I have the families emails.

So, Grundy/Philly has gone silent. I'm dealing with a hard front impact. I am dealing with Acuity for the at fault driver. So the estimator starts with bumper, lights, reinforcement etc. But he completely forgets to write Radiator and Condenser. What kind of estimator worth his salt sees a smashed front end and forgets to write down A/C and cooling system??? Also pretends like Parts are available.

And Rob is right, that's why I went with them. 5 years and no claims and an accident that is not my fault gets me a stiff arm followed by silence because I was on a joyride but I stopped at the store on the way home. Read your policy for usage if you have Grundy.

I just read through my entire policy. I couldn't find anything about limits to use or even mileage, except they did mention track driving and was concerned they mentioned "rally" too. A FCA rally wouldn't be covered?

Can someone with the exclusion tell me what section and reference number it is included? Damn thing is 50 pages long.

    I did find this funny.

He also sent me this and said that limited use or stopping at a store should be covered. For Georgia but I can’t imagine it would be much different in WI.

Interesting. I have multiple cars insured now and in the past with Grundy but never had a claim (knock on wood).

Sounds like I may need to move carriers….

I've talked to John a few times but unfortunately I haven't heard any updates. When I called my agent a few months ago expressing my concerns and putting John and him in touch, he was supposed to get back to me within 24 hours with quotes from other insurers. I never heard back. My policy with Grundy expires on Sunday, so I emailed this morning letting him know that I would be making a decision today.

I just started a policy through the National Corvette Museum with American Modern. Similar cost to Grundy, but has mileage restrictions, which is fine with me as I have several cars and the Vette and Ferrari are only driver periodically for pleasure.

Sorry Redneck, I thought I got back to you. So I talked to your Man in Orlando. He has not yet had a problem. So all I can do is go after the at fault Guys' Acuity Ins. I threatened a lawsuit against Grundy/Philly, and they had me do a deposition. I may sue them later. The car has been up at Motion Products for awhile looking to see if they can find parts. Pickens are slim. Really slim. Mike up at MPI could fix it if there were some parts. Image Unavailable, Please Login Car is probly gonna be totaled, but I don't know yet. I had the car insured for 96k. But I went thru it F-B and replaced or updated everything that mattered. Remember that Philly stiff armed me. Didn't even offer subrogation with Acuity. I found an '87 and went with Hagerty this time.

No problem at all, didn't mean it that way, you did keep me updated well but I assumed after the deposition there has been little or no movement...and I'm sorry things are still up in the air. This definitely solidified my decision to dump Grundy/Philly and go with another provider.

Besides the mileage, are there usage restrictions? Or interpretations that can work against you?

It's still collector's insurance so it has a lot of the same restrictions, yet some of the wording is different. You absolutely cannot use it as primary or even backup transportation....but the policy states "occasional drive to work", which is language that does not appear in Grundy at all. They seem to have good reviews also. I've heard multiple accounts of stories like John's about Grundy.

I'm in the same boat as many with Grundy. Good rates, but I alway have that nagging feeling, if I get Into some incident and have to call Grundy, am I doing something wrong, or how do I justify what I am doing is covered. Not like I'm abusing the policy, but clearly they are out to deny where they can. I'll look up American Modern rates/policies for me
