I am in the process of selling my 1995 F512m. And thinking about a 2007 599 GTB. I am looking for a 6 speed manuel trans. I have not found one yet. Is there any problems wirh the manuels trans ? Any issues with a 2007 gtb? Does the majior cost as much my F512M? My color choice is silver but the dark silver. With Dark grey inside and carbon fiber trim. Is this a better car then my F512M. I have not driven one yet. Currently there are only f-1 in all ferrari dealers. anyone knows of a 6 speed gated shifter for sale. John
The problem will be, as you already state, to find a 599 GTB in manual. Multiple other forumusers have started the search for a gated 599 (see also for some further reading the topics down at the bottom of this post). The main concern on purchasing a gated 599 is that the engine and car are practically made for the F1-tranny which Ferrari stated was an "option". Ferrari knew this and therefor the "F1-transmission" option was one of the most ticked boxes when ordering a 599 GTB. The population of gated 599's is very small, rumours say there are just a couple of %'s of the total production run with a gated manual. So finding just that gated 599 can be a real pain. I wish you good luck in finding both a 599 with manual and one that is technically as well as esthetically right. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=303239&highlight=599+Manual http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=294144&highlight=599+Manual http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=289288&highlight=599+Manual .
Regarding F1 vs 6Speed, here is another thread worth reading--> http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=261349 As far as model years go, all 599s are equally solid. Just find a car that has been well-kept.
