Challenge Stradale manual conversion question here. Been really examining things since I have to pull my transmission for the leaking TO bearing. There no WSM for the conversion, so there are several things that I notice different shops doing differently.

When looking through the parts diagram online for a manual, I notice that it does not have end of stroke pins to keep the TO bearing from rotating. Instead, it relies on a small metal pin in a grooved slot of plastic (or upgraded delrin) to keep it from rotating. I have heard of these breaking, and it seems to be super weak. Would it be ok to just use the F1 end of stroke pins instead or does that somehow not work with a clutch pedal? Seems like a far better and MUCH stronger design and wanted to ask here.

Seems like a good thing to do with conversions or even an upgrade for manuals.

As a note, I vaguely remember questioning if I needed it or not. I made a post about a master list of parts I'll have to dig up as I think someone answered the question there.

    That's for while you're designing it. :D

I feel like I've read about the plastic part failing on at least one car. It's so weak and goes through a lot of use IMO. I feel like it's a no brainer to change it to the 2 studs, unless I am missing something...

He stole that from my dentist girlfriend 30 years ago when I asked her what the best dentistry is. She said "the best dentistry is no dentistry," meaning you keep your teeth so well that no dentistry is needed to fix your teeth.

Catch 22. You don't know that you didn't need a dentist until you actually see one :D

I just changed out my TOB on my factory gated car, did not put the end of stroke pins, replaced the delrin part and the delrin part failed, now pulling the trans again, replacing the TOB and installing end of stroke pins. It's cheap insurance while your in there imo

    Factory Manual Owner here..

WTF are ya'll doing to the cars to make this happen? Keep it as the factory had intended... and you don't have any issues!

I had mine replaced with a manual bearing back in 2016.. and nearly 10 years later... no issues. No leaks.

I didn’t use them during conversion, since it wasn’t the way OEM did it. Even though I was wary of the plastic.
Anyway, if I did it again, I would use the pins. I would sleep better at night.
