Perhaps a fear of overlap, the Gallardo's performance is already matching the Murcie's thats why, they are uprating it for this new year :)

Modern cars sound really quiet, blame it on the swiss

Hi guys, I've finally brought my little red devil for a spin up north. Tuck, looks familiar huh? Our old training buidling is now given a new lease to a Private flying club, it was quite dilapidated from my last visit.

    Jon,

Your little devil looks great under the sun, with them glinting wheels. I like the close-up shot with the wheels just about turning to the left, looks fantabulous but we've got to do something about the brakes, innit ?

Will be in Singapore over the weekend, so could any of you recommend a good local restaurant serving the best chicken rice and also where to find the best nightlife.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations.

Hi Theera, I don't think restaurants serve best chicken rice here. Mandarin Hotel @ Orchard serves a good eg @ S$20. You'll likely find the better ones in stalls within hawkers centres or coffeeshops & cost less than S$5 a plate. A good one is supposedly @ Commonwealth food centre as recommended by a top chef here. Some are chain stalls like Boon TongKee that can be found in Balestier, Katong etc though the taste can be subjective. I like roasted skin & I go to a stall @ Stirling Rd Hawker Ctr because they give generous portion & a good sauce over it. The Char kwayTeow stall there is one of the best in town & often with 20mins queue.

What kind of nightlife you looking for?

Yes, I've heard about Boon Tong Kee & Mandarin Hotel serving very good chicken rice, but I'll definately try out Stirling Road Hawker Centre as you've recommended. As for nightlife, I'm just looking for a nice bar with good atmoshere.

I would like to be there when some of you meet up, unfortunately this weekend would be difficult because I'll be there with the entire family.

We had a mini drinking session last night @ a pub. Some P, M, F & Subaru car enthusiasts. Thanks Harold!

Anyway, I don't take alcohol but since you're here with the family. I would reccommend dining & drinking @ Indochine along the S'pore river beside the Empress Place or the 2 storey rest. @ Esplanade where you can have a nice view of the city. Clarke Quay further up along the river has some nice F&B as well. Sometimes, I go up to Changi Sailing Club area which has some restaurants by the beach (Eastern tip) or The Cliff (modern resort style) @ Sentosa Spa & resort hotel. For nice views F&B, go on top of the Raffles Westin hotel @ 72flr~Equinox. There's some nice drinking places @ night on top of Mt Faber where you can see the port & Sentosa island with the cable car station next to it.

You guys have never tried Five Star Hainanese Chicken Rice? IMO is the best in S'pore. Much cheaper than places like mandarin and boon tong kee too. Their branch at River Valley Road is good.

Address is 417 river valley road. there is a row of shops with a 7-11 and couple of 24hr roti prata shops in the same row.

One thing about Chicken Rice... It was not around that much 25 years ago when I was schooling in Singapore, you know. I remembered eating at a food court at lunch, I could hardly find any food similar to Thai food or Chiness Thai food there. But then, 20 years later, I went back to Singapore, Chicken Rice was everywhere.... even the Madarin Hotel. But Chicken Rice was a Thai main dish in Thailand even during my grand father's time... I believe we Thai make famous of these Hainanese Chicken Rice... I don't think they appreciate Chicken Rice as much in Hainan as we do here in Thailand....

Is it? I didn't know chicken rice came from Thailand? There's so many TV shows recommending good food in S'pore now. In fact, last mid-night they were recommending a western food stall in a HDB coffeeshop @ Crawford Lane & another Chinese food stall @ 267 Racecourse Rd, has my fav crab beehoon & a strange looking red toufu soup. There's a good BaKuteh (they own the entire coffeeshop) further down the street (Owen Rd?) & my Thai bro brought me there recently.

Lung, can you dabao the chicken rice for me while you're there :)

Sorry, we didn't talk much about Ferrari but I just received my April Forza. Let's see what they have....

SF what of your 4 seater plans ? Saw the "casey car" at HS undergoing repairs for new owner - described as a 40 + man - looked like a costly job !!

Gosh, was the owner alright when you were photographing his store? I'm so hungry now, haven't had dinner & it's 11.07pm but I've just finished reading an excellent article from Forza by an American guy who was @ the factory to oversee the assembly, delivery & ownership of his US$12000 275GTB in 1967 :)

A teacher's pay in Singapore was only S$150/month back then & what was the exchange rate of US$ then?
