    Jon,
A 10kkm 2yr. old example is for sale at only half the price it was bought new and no takers till now. Finance is also almost non-existent since the FinanCo doesn't know the true value of such car/s. Talk about 'invaluable'..

    Ultimo,
Chkout the Maserati thread...The piccies are nowhere near even a semblance of what the car's supposed to look like.

    Clive,

how difficult would it be for a one-off CF bonnet to be made up for my
    Fiat ?

would they be able to work off my original bonnet as a mould ?

    cheers.

    Everything is possible.
The ease (or degree of difficulty) depends on your bonnet shape. If it is a shape that can be laid-up in a single piece mould then it is obviously easier than a bonnet with say scoops and shapes that require split moulds. You would most likely need 2 skins, 1 inner & 1 outer.

They would be able to work off your original bonnet as a template/buck and make a female mould from that.

Yes, Clive is right. It'll be a lot easier, cheaper & 95% accurate if you give them your cover. They just need to make a female mould out of it & once they finishes off the details/corners, you can make hundreds of it. It'll be even easier if you convert the factory hook to those race style ring/clips. It's going to be very light compared to aluminium, my friend just did an engine cover for his 911 & it is very light. Haven't you seen those for Evos & Wrx? They're about US$1K each. I'd prefer Carbon Kevlar pattern/colour.

Isk, what car are you talking about?

The Lexus SC430. About the only thing nice are the Mark Levinson sounds and the smooth top operation. The original wheels must rank as one of if not THE ugliest wheel ever put on a production coupe/convertible.

Er, I saw an F430 in downtown Shenzhen today. Tubis and Challenge. Rosso Scud and man, does it sounds nice revving the nuts off from the traffic lights. The driver's pretty well versed with the F1 trans I think, judging from the way he bangs the gears in...smooth and no offbeats in between...

Lung.. Awak bukan order 430 ke ?

    Clive/Jon,

can the original bonnet's mounting hardware be reused ? Eg , the bonnet
    struts , lockset and hinge-assemblies ?

I have been told that with real CF bonnets , high load items like gas
pressure bonnet struts cannot be used and sometimes , even the lockset
will have to be ditched in favour of bonnet-pins ....

aiyo , bonnet-pins too way out for me lah .....

    thanks.

Your 'virginal' Bianco Coupe is already pretty fast and I think now's the right time for you to maybe take a look at a 'ts' in KL. Then you can think of putting a CF top in lieu of the original. Think it's made by one of the sponsors here....
Contrary to what most people think, CN is more 'capitalist' than most other countries!!! Where else can you see 'boobies' modification being advertised on end on TV from 0900 to 1200 non-stop and there's no indemnification clause...taxes..what taxes ? You NEGOTIATE!

Highly possible, my friend did copy the mounting points & installed the original hinges, though not gas-struts. Well, if you're a Carbon freak, you can have the mirrors, bumpers, interior, seats or just about anything made out of it as long as you've got the dole :)

Yah right, why not just get the TS? Save you a lot of trouble & $.

I had a ride the other night in my 348 again, still have a little magic & looks a lot better than a 996. Should I still keep it or swap it? The 996 is so modern to live with & a little tweak can make them quite fun but just don't seem to have a soul in it.

Unless its a 996 GT3, forget it. Otherwise I would go for a 993 anytime over a standard tip 996. Having said that Jon, you gotta decide what are your priorities. Personally, I even found the 993 much easier to drive hard than the 348 but the 348 just gives a sense of occassion that not even a 997 can give. If I had enough money, I would have both a 355 (for fun) and a 993 (for daily use) personally.

That is for the obscenely rich. Let me guess, Quek has them both? BTW, I saw a metallic blue Phantom earlier.

Hi Harold, haven't heard from you for a while. Actually, I'd agree with you as I drive my 911 very hard while I always ease off on the 348 because I couldn't afford to break it :( Mind you, my 911 exhaust is louder than my 348.

You know what, the "sunnyside up" look is growing on me. The lower bumper is not, so if I do get the cabriolet or coupe, I would get some nice bumpers for it. Well, I'm hoping to own a sportscar that I can use everyday instead of sitting there in the carpark & I hardly have time to change these days. I'd need a 2+2 so only a Porsche answers it unless I get that Mondial which I think is really a little old school. I also find the 993 a little dated especially the interior. Sorry but I think I wouldn't want a 993 or 355 & rather a 360/996 as a "jump". If I do want a classic raw sports car with the kart like handling & little electronics.....Lotus?!!!

Hehehee, ok ok. Those must be in your mind :)

I think I can afford the first if I live on bread & tapwater but the RR has to be a COE one that costs lesser than a new Civic :)

Oh & while I drive the 997, the RR is rented to wedding shops to help finance the S$16K roadtax :)

Nope, I didn't look for it. Hate to gatecrash on such stuffs & rather wait for it to depreciate like the previous Alinghi which people are starting to dump :)

You want me to check? I heard the local 6 allocation were all spoken for long ago & the rest are imported pieces. Frankly, they took almost a year to deliver & most guys have gone for others by now. Old RM5 also coming out now.

I believe when somebody said a 430 and an RR it could be a Ferrari F430 and a Range Rover. Sounds familiar innit ? Maybe he's asking for opinions on whether what he HAD done was the right thing or not. In short, a self-biasing opinion seeker...hehehe!!!!

    Jangan marah abang 'Naga'...!

Note : I'd take the 430 anyday over the 997GT3. Not that I'm biased towards Fcars since this is an Fcar board, but because I know how it feels not to own one now. I have a Pcar too but no money for a 550 or CS that will be the next Fcar for me....yet.

Oh yah! Never thought about the 4x4 thing.....both British heritage. I kind of like those Defender, paint it black with all the chromed nuts, hinges etc. & black out the glass. Quite sinister. Did I see a Merc G Class here? Anybody? They're pretty popular in Europe.

I thought I see a third row on the back but maybe for kids http://www.rangerovers.net/custom/overfinch/index.html
