Jon, If you find the 4200GT's CC shifts a bit 'wanting', i.e not fast enough/aggressive etc..I believe you can upgrade the software to a GS or GS type software. You can always trawl the Maser site.... Fengtau, 456 in CN are LHD and have seen one in TdF and one in Grigio. In CN resale values are based on the 'length' and engine size of the car!!! The bigger, the better! Eg : A 1996 W140 MBZ S600 is more expensive than a 1996 Boxster. In MY, it'd be the other way round....so I guess if there's any 456 in the used car market, it'll command a premium over it's 'smaller' brothers since it's a V12 and 5.5L and seats 4.
Sounds like it should be a better bang than a 996/7 with RMS issues? Why is it that nobody races them significantly or market it properly to increase sales & presence? Is it because of it never quite recovered from the crisis a decade+ ago or it suffers the Tudor/Rolex image problem? I thought it has done pretty well under the stewardship of Ferrari but if I'm not wrong I thought I read that it was bleeding them thus the sale again to Alfa. Anyway, the agent will still be well under HS in SG. I'll do a check on this car with the owner. Meanwhile, I was very lucky & found a review of one in a HK magazine
Jon, Maserati 4200GT over a Porsche 996C4CabTip anytime.... Nobody races an Italian car/bike that has very expensive parts inventory...privately! Anybody races Alfas in MY ? No..Leave it to the Hondas and rice brigade.. But in Europe you can actually see them....Go to the official Maser web and you can see a lotta race happenings in the GT/Trofeo ala Challenge series etc..etc..
I don't know man. Somehow the design doesn't thrill me http://www.fast-autos.net/vehicles/Maserati/2003/Coupe/ I'm a "form" person, especially when I do industrial design. The product has to speak to me first. Only the G'spot does it for me, come'on Lung sell me yours for reasonable Did you guys see a new limited edition model GS in blue inspired by the MC12 with bare CF lips & wing? It has an Italian flag above the front wheel arch & blue sports seats. I think the engine is also tweeked.
Jon, You can always change the wheels to the OEM 19" open lattice just like the ones on the GS...if Lung doesn't want to sell his GS to you at 'giveaway' price!! I believe the GS bodykit bits can be gotten too..No? Tweak the motor and CC Box management and finally....Tubis !(said to improve the CC shifts..go figure..). Cargraphic Racing rims in 19" looks great too. Lotsa ways to waste yer money..hehe! Saw the SE GS with the lil' Italian Flag on Top Gear online. Looks great..
You are a bad company.....bad way to spend $$ Ha I just saw the Lapis-blue 996C4Cabriolet with tan interior. Not bad, factory sports exhaust, litronic bi-xenon, 77K km, upgraded rims, never tracked. Cool...should make a good daily driver.
Forgot to mention that the 996 I saw had a DMS tuned ECU giving extra15-20Bhp. I've got more details on the Maserati. Grigio silver, black & tit interior. It's a late '03 model with an improved CC. Has a LCD screen, skyhook, sports suspension, less than 30K mileage, tubi. Has a proper boot unlike 911s. He told me it can easily eat GT3 on track. Is it possible? 4.2V8 390Bhp, a pre-430 sharing the same engine....
Engine is the same dear. My advice is forget about a Maser. The resale is really non-exhistent, even here in Europe. Mostly Hairstylist driving it here. DMS, believe i use their chips once before, but was never really that good, messed up my traction control of my car, cant remember which one already...trust the british to F up
Ouch...there are too many posts to comment on...scrolling upwards gave me a headache....another time then
Whoever fed you this crap ought to be shot, its not possible, if he is the owner, then perhaps he got things confused and was actually being lapped
Well looks like you guys are having fun down there. I am more pissed with the HK goverment right now...having to change ID card to the new one is a terrible hassle. Here is some political entertainment http://www.sgflick.com/tmbs-060501-the_persistently_non-political_podcast_no6.mp3
1. Distracted drivers talking on cell phones (Motor Mouths) 2. Slow drivers in the fast lane (Turtle Racers) 3. Pushy drivers who tailgate (Piggybackers) 4. Drivers who weave through traffic to gain one or two car lengths (Wacky Weavers) 5. Obnoxious drivers who speed up to keep you from changing lanes (Gap Snatchers) 6. Hasty drivers who change lanes without signaling (Space Invaders) 7. Road Rage (Road Ragers) 8. Motorcyclists who race down the middle of a lane, between cars (Speed Racers) 9. Women applying makeup and men shaving (Driving Divas) 10. Drivers who leave their turn signal on for miles (Morse Coders)
Jon, 996s are in abundance here and I am sure you can find one with lower mileage easily. And I would take a coupe over a cab, the cab is just for show and has too much body-roll. As for 4200GT vs GT3, facts are wrong for sure. It should be the other way round.
Oh yes, there is a F430 coupe for sale on ST today. Heard about this car few months back but no takers and finally they put it up on the papers. This is the 1st 430 in the resale market, don't think it will take that long to sell.
Alright, here's my field report for the morning Didn't have time to test drive though. Saw the Sept '03 Maserati in Titanium with black/Tit. 28K mileage, DMS tuned 420Bhp, Tubi exhaust, sports suspension. Condition is almost mint & sounds very good. Upgrades are worth more than S$10K. This is a very modern car compared to all the other cars I've seen & realised it's actually designed by Giugiaro with the badge. Very easy driver with a reasonably good bootsize & surprisingly nice rear leg/headroom. This should make an excellent driver with utility & occassional burst & yes, I feel it's a lot faster, sounds better & more modern than the 01 996s. For the money, it's a lot of bang & technology. I really wonder why it's not well accepted. Looks will take time to grow on you & the V8 growl is unmistakeable. Yes, there's abundance of 996s available from '98 C2 coupes to '04/5 C4S with prices ranging from S$180K to S$380K. I always like cabriolets though I'm no hairdresser & I doubt I'll track it hard as Phil mentioned. The extra weight, tip, opentin doesn't make sense. It's more of a showcar. Unfortunately all those I've seen has at least 60K mileage on the clock with the blue one I like @ 77K which means it'll hit the centurion by the time I sell in 3yrs time. Bad. Lastly, I went to see my all time favourite. Testarossa in almost mint Rosso Corsa & black interior. The classic swirl sound of the starter & then broommmm of the tubi is simply wonderful before it settles down to a mellow tone which screams when you hit it. Engine is clean & dry which I'll but the CFibre with a see-through plexiglass cover A-la-360 to show it's glory & there are two factory lights which light up @ night.....very nice. Wonderful old world charm, interior is very dated the moment you sit into it & back view is terrible. Actually the size is not that big but the rear is still intimidating, it's quite an easy driver. This is one I will try to make it a daily driver to justify the road tax & I'll buy another wagon for the family & picnics. Nobody will miss this car, it still commands tremendous presence from anybody unlike the Maserati or Porsche. The only set back is the 5figures road tax & expensive maintenance bill. All three cars are very reasonable on depreciation. I think I'll knock the 996 out with the Maserati. So it's now a testa+family car or a single Maserati & 911SC. Hmmmmm. What's your opinions? I'm beginning to lean torwards modern cars with all the comfort, technology & very easy to drive fast. Not as punishing if you commit mistake & something you can use point A-Z anytime with low maintenance bill but higher depreciation. But it doesn't thrill as much as a Ferrari & the Ferrari was a top-of-the-line with 12cylinders something we motorheads always love. I would imagine the grin on the face everytime you step into the Ferrari, it's punishing, uncomfortable & expensive to maintain but I always have a little trusty Japanese waiting for backup. It's nail biting time!
