Spaing77 - Have you checked their website for details www.autoinc.com.sg/unsold.htm? They have a yellow 355GTB and a red 355GTS for sale, with photographs and details. Hope that helps.

They also have a Black/black Testarossa that has been on sale for a very long time, with no takers. Does anyone know the history/condition of that car?

Yup I know the owner too.
You can call Ben or Marcus if u are interested in any of the cars shown in Autoinc.

All the cars are on consignment. I guess if u know the owner u can deal direct.

The black Testa has Tarox 6 pot caliper brakes, Konieg anti-sway bar for the front and rear. It has Speedline Titanium 18inch rims, Cannot remember if it has a tubi.

Lung - Thanks for the information. The car looks in good nick, was just curious why it hadn't been snapped up, given that it seems reasonable. A friend of mine in Oz was looking for a Testa to export some time back, so shall get in touch with him to find out if he's interested.

Clive - you have another PM.

Where do I start... S$150k for a Ferrari may appear cheap on paper but the problem with all Testarossa in Spore is simple:
    1. The road tax is about $900 per month. Thats rite - PER MONTH!
    2. Its a "COE car" (cars past 10 years), banks don't want to lend. I think on a Testa, a bank may consider lending 50K. So if thats the case, the potential buyer must fork out $100k cash...bo hua mah?
    3. Maintenance - It is after all a 15 year old car - parts on a Testa are getting rarer and therefore will cost more to bring in.
    4. Maintenance - its a 12 cylinder car. Compared to a normal car it has 2 to 4 times more things to do. i.e. 12 spark plugs compared to 4. It takes about 12 liters of engine old/brake/clutch fluid. If u have to change 1 timing belt for a 355 - u have to change 2 for a Testa... u begining to get the picture?

So i think these are the reasons why people tend to shy away from owning a Testa in Singapore. If u can afford it? U'd probably rather own a 360 anyway.

    Lung,

    1. Had no no idea that the road tax was that high. That almost makes exporting a viable option!

    2. There's an interesting thread elsewhere on Ferrarichat on buy vs. lease. Wonder what the stats are for Singapore.

3., 4. The maintenance issues are spot on, but I guess, that's the cost of owning a 12.

Interestingly, the Hong Seh pre-owned section also seems to have a Testa for a while. Don't know if they haven't updated their site in ages or people aren't biting because of the reasons you outlined.

The Testa is a 5 litre car. And because its past 10 years old, the LTA places a surcharge of 10% per year upto the 15th year. That means the Testa on year 11 is 110% of its normal road tax. At year 15 its 150%. Its capped at 150%

I had a Mercedes 500SEC back in 1990. It was already 17 years old, I was paying about $1k per month on road tax. The LTA use to send me "Thank you for the support Christmas cards" - Not.

Owning a old car, let alone an exotic is going to be expensive.... don't kid urself if u think otherwise. I have been there....done that.

Lung - Talk about extracting their pound of flesh!

By the way has anyone been to the Sing Motorshow yet? Apart from the Ferrari stall, is there anything worth seeing? The last one I went for, apart from the Enzo, was a bit of a disappointment.

Have put a spreadsheet together on owning a pre-owned car in Singapore (after Lung pointed out the significant other costs - he was spot on!). I am sure everyone has done one of these at some point in time!!

Still, if anyone is interested in a copy, PM me with an email address and I'll send it through. Just a disclaimer, this was put together in a couple of hours, so if you find any bugs, please let me know so I can refine it. Also, it represents my understanding of the (complex) Singapore system!

Shall be at the Motorshow to check out the 430. My digicam is on the blink, so will not be able to take pics. If anyone has a working digicam, please take some hi-res pics and post them on the forum.

Latest news is that the 430 will only be ready on 20-21 Nov. Is the carshow still on then? I'll be taking pix then. I would love to own a Testa as well but the costs are just too high to justify.

I almost bought a 500SEC too! G, the road tax deterred me but the car was only S$18K & had full specs! Maybe that was yours Lung? Anyway, that pitiful car had an engine fire few months later & was scrapped.

Loan & Rd tax is always a problem in Singapore where there is a 10yr expiry (COE & Parf). Now that new car prices have plummeted & loans are so easy on new cars(many even inflated & get $ out of the car they bought!), few people will opt for old ones. So that leaves us with virtually no buyers when we buy an old car which we paid with a lot of cash out front. It's painful to see many nice vintages being scrapped or thrown away. The market here just don't justify owning one & that classic scheme is a joke. Many foreign countries give classic cars a waiver on road tax. Ours just get 150% more...

Oh of course I'll be @ e Motorshow but the weekend crowd is a deterence. Maybe Monday? I'll probably be going again when the 430 is here. Lung, you want to meet there? Well, you know that fatboy trades anything. I even "inherited" his hifi, jewellery etc.

Now, your "512" looks tempting... I think there's none(512M) left right? The high papervalue....heard it was almost a million when new! Anyone been to see that Mondial project?
