The banyan tree article today is such a coincidence..was reading about it in vogue men us edition last night, it was a travel article about Zhongdian, the new shangri-la in the Yunnan province..anyway its a few pages of the journey, so to cut it short, this writer encounters bayan tree's new resort...anyway let me double quote what this writer observed at his stay in this US$850 per night stay...which is actually converted tibetian farmhouses.. " There were a few furious scenes at dinner, one night a south african guy stood up from his table and screamed in exaspertion, "this isnt a bloody panna cotta, man, its a bad bloody chocolate pudding." there are other interesting accounts...but lazy to type
Funny you should mention the BT at Zhongian - I have a similar type of development there. In the same class as BT, and costs a lot less to stay...
Oh really what is it called? I might go china for hols next year. But reading the account, its four hour trip by air to Lijiang an another 5 hour drive to the place...but if your hotel has native women on yak fur as welcome gifts...yeah i dun mind making the trip hehehehehe
I was very interested about a statement the autor made about his encounter in Lugu Hu..he was commenting about the Mosuo people...who "is the only functioning matriachy in the world; the women practise a form of free love called "walking marriage" hmmm now that is interesting indeed...for people like me and rara...but i wonder if kampong chicken taste like cold storage ones... he goes on to decribe " the Mosuo women have a peachy, lusty beauty and the area has something of a free love reputation all over china, men from all over flock here to try their luck, karoke fourish around the village of Luoshui, and there is a feeling of pagan relaxation. Anyone want to take a lead to organzie an F-chat expedition deep into Shangrila?
Lamp me already. I think I just found heaven "In their matriarchal society, they do not marry. They practice what they call "walking marriage" in which a woman may invite a man into her hut to spend a "sweet night," but he must leave by daybreak. If a pregnancy results from this union, the child will be raised by the woman and her family." http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2001/03/25/wmosuo25.xml
The new phase is under construction and should be ready by 1st quarter 2008. I've not been there myself but may do so when it's ready. Native women on yak fur? Didn't know you get turned on by the Abominable Snowman ('yeti') hahaha...
How else you think i like hairy knees so much hahahaha Oooh swee man, saw the pictures on the web...is that your land cruiser in one of the pics? Nice way to transport rather than the bread vans Place looks good and the rates are really affordable! Hmm i think when i go i will get a "suite" more space for furs, natives etc hehehe. If you go let me know...heheh hopefully sometime june-aug period. Yea..i was thinking about native women all afternoon...some funny senarios would be.. 1) yo woman did you wash your hands after smacking that pig? 2) scenes of men being spanked/chained/ tied to trees by native woman... 3) is there broadband here? I need my f-chat fix the list goes on
RD, don't forget about me when that hotel opens. I'm supposed to go Banyan Lijiang earlier this yr but got cancelled last min.
It rained around 3 pm, then stopped. We were able to dry the courts and play from 4-5.30 before the rain came again. Did you manage to play at SICC?
No, not my land cruiser. Probably belongs to our partner who's a local. The website does not show the upcoming new development, which has about 3 times the number of rooms as the current one. My brother goes there regularly to check on the progress of the development so he's more familiar with the place. Not sure when I'll be going but will keep you and Jon posted if and when I do. Would be a good place to de-stress, and you can stay behind if you wish to build your own little KDK tribe.
