Looking at the 08 SLR roadsters now that the acquisition cost has dipped under $400K - any of you 599 pilots own one?
What are the issues? Worried about no F & R parking sensors. opening doors in tight spaces...anything more significant?
    How's the navi system?

    many thanks

Not Calif. but West coast. :):) My SLR is a joy to drive, however, do not plan long road trips on bad roads without bringing a kidney belt. Even on the softest setting it is brutal. Mine is an 06 and does not have factory Nav. Instead I purchased and installed the Azentek Smart Mirror with backup camera. http://www.azentekonline.com/cms/content/view/79/180/

I had one for about a month. A terrific idea poorly executed is the gist of my experience.
It was too much of everything. Too much unusable power, too heavy, too long and not particularly good looking in the flesh. It looked very modern but the driving feel was herky-jerky. It never felt comfortable at suburban speeds. The electronics are appalling (stereo, nav etc) and the soft top was delivered without the extra clip-on covers to keep the dust out of of the sides when it was open - stupid idea to begin with. Clearly the top's operation was an afterthought in the design process. Just not a great ownership experience. I was quite happy to get rid of it. The SL55. and now the SL63 deliver a much better expensive convertible experience.
