I'm very interested to hear views from a speciale owner of their 918. Why may you ask ? Well the answer to that is simple. The speciale is simply the most fun car there is on the planet, especially with a good set of exhausts. I have heard some 918 drivers just stick it in auto because the box is so intuitive. I couldn't never drive the spaz in auto... What a thought ! In my mind the 918 should be a big gt3.. Big, raw and noisy but with all the creature comforts. If a 918 is not as thrilling as a spaz it would be rather disappointing.... Only a spaz owner would understand what I'm saying as you don't know the best until you have tried it.

Look forward to a willing owner filling us in.

Take a look at Whoopsy's posts. If I recall he actually sold his Speciale because his 918 out did it in every department leaving him not feeling the need to keep it around. I think a F12 replace the Speciale... could be wrong though as it was a few months ago. Look in the F12/FF section for more. Speciale is a great car but there are a few things out there that can still trump it.

Yeah, for a MILLION DOLLARS! Ask yourself this though. Would you rather have a 918 or a Speciale with 600,000 dollars in cash in the boot (if it would fit :0)

I would think that the 918 would outperform the Speciale seeing as it's three times the price. As far as the F12, I drove an F12 briefly but while it had tons of power, it's no Speciale! The drive in the F12 was subdued while the drive in the Speciale is "epic"!

This is not about speed or performance chaps, this is about excitement and involvement ...

Why not pick up a 991 GT3 RS and see how that feels.

I have the Spec and have just ordered the RS :)

You will have change for a 675LT as well...

I drove the 918 and while it was fast I liked my 458 much better. YMMV.

I have both and they are both a blast to drive... The Speciale is very nimble and makes some great noise but the 918 is just on an entirely different level. I have never driven a car with this kind of acceleration, the car is just epic in every way!!!

People who buy 918 have more than 10x600K. They don't really care about the 600,000.
you ask an average person on the street would they rather have a brand new BMW (with $200K cash in trunk) or an used F458 ....

The conundrum faced by these owners is "would I rather have a 918, P1 or LaFerrari? Oh f-ck it, why not buy all 3:)"

Your comment reminds me of the guys on the mustang forms calling out corvettes on the price vs performance. Sounds like you could get a new Z06 corvette. And have another 200.000 in the bank.... Then at that get a mustang and call it 250.000.... Where would you end?

The original poster asked specifically the question that I answered. Money was not mentioned and was not considered. He simply asked if it was more exciting as he loved his car which in itself is great.

That's exactly what Paul Baile did. The following shows him going from one dealership to the next to collect the cars. That's not a bad day IMO.

    So I do have a 918 and a Speciale.

Two different driving experiences. 918 is like a Surgeons scalpel - super precise and probably the best car I have owned or driven in my lifetime.
Speciale is more like a Ninja Sword - very sharp, very accurate but harsh. I do have 200 Cel cats, exhaust and a few other mods.

I have not driven another car in the same league as the 918. Love the 918 in every department with the exception of the attention it gets.
The Speciale is more of an everyday car - its gets attention but not over the top attention like the 918.

Thank you JP for your perspective. Is the 918 as nimble, have as good a paddle box ND make a great noise ? Feel and noise very important to me, like my cars aggressive in every way...

I was wondering how the Speciale compared to the 918 and F12 as well... This video really helped clear up the matter, both in terms of the driving experience, as well as the lap times:
