Any TR 3 Point Seatbelt Conversions?

I have 4 or 5 point harnesses in my TRs. I'm sure a regular 3 point can be done

 

I converted a TR to a 3-point system but it was a bit of a pain. I tried to find early TR or European TR pieces to do the job but was not successful. Finally I purchased a generic seat belt set and installed it using the factory mounting points. I had to grind down the retractor housing and do some other "modifications" to get it all to fit, but it worked okay. I had to mount the retractors down at the bottom of the door sills. But ideally they should go below the rear side windows so when you pull the belts across it's more of a natural motion. There is a salvage place with an early TR out in California that has the entire seat belt set....I think they wanted $1200. But I'm sure there's plenty of room for negotiation. You'll also want to get the early TR console lid that covers up the two slots in your current one. Luckily for me my current TR has had the recall and they are working fine so far. But if they mess up I may just do the change over to manual belts again. I like them much better. If you ever have to mess with the interior panels in your TR please be VERY CAREFUL as they are fragile. If you bend them or kink them it's there for good.
