An associate of mine told me every year (except last year) you have been able to rent a Ferrari for $250 and do 10 laps or so of the F1 circuit during the weekend festivities.

This will be my first year attending so I can't vouch. Has anyone heard of this before? If so, I'll be even that much more excited.

    Thank you.

I have been to the USGP every year, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for the whole day and have never seen this going on. Unless you count the first year when the Ferrari Challege ran. If this is starting this year can some one point me in the direction to some info please.

I suspect that the event being described was something they've done the last few years (except last year) where you could wait until Monday 4pm or so and drive your car around the track. This was done for people that renewed their tickets for the following year.
Hey, maybe someone there was renting out their Ferrari for it.

Hmm, yea I wish I had more info for you. I just heard rumor of it today and since it sounded a little too good to be true I figured I'd have someone straighten it out for me.

In reality I suppose the high demand, liability, wear on cars, etc, would be all be deterents of this sort of thing happening for $250. Had to ask though.

Depends on when they drove: The pace car was lapping with increasing speeds from session to session. I let myself fall back on the s/f line and then went pretty much flat out through the infield section trying to catch up. No idea how fast I was going, but the tires were happy tires. :) Once we entered the banked section I had caught up again.

From what I heard of the afternoon session, things went even a good deal further...

    Don't hold your breath:

This was Ferrari Club of America's National event, which comes about every ten years to our region. They were able to combine that with the USGP. It was a very unique opportunity and knowing that I didn't want to miss out on it.

They're not even letting the Indy tour bus run today or tomorrow, so I doubt they'll let you run your car :)

I heard a certain Red TR layed way back, then got Vid going 130+ on the main straight...from what I heard from the club chapter President, they banned that certain Red TR from future events. My question is, if they didn't get a license plate number, how would they know who to ban? ;)
