    The Owner's Manual calls for 12V / 21W, which is part of the problem. In other words, too much heat.

    Meanwhile, the OEM crossed-referenced bulbs (7506) are even hotter at 25 watts.

    The generally recommended 1156 is hotter still at 26.88 watts.

    So, I'm using the 1141 for now, which is rated at 18.4 watts. Plenty bright enough too.

    I bought LED bulbs from peraccurate | eBay (seller "peraccurate"). The really good ones are the "SMD" type, brighter than the standard bulbs. I earlier tried the cheaper (corn-like) LED-s but most of them are not as bright as the standard bulbs and, in many cases, they cannot go in as they are too fat.

    To replace the six 5W bulbs, I used the medium size LED-s (pic) but they were way too bright for the application so I insert in-line 1W resistors to bring down the brightness (39 Ohm I think, cannot check now as the resistors are in heat-shrink tubes). For other locations, I used the large LED-s and left the standard bulbs for the indicators.

    The seller I mentioned seems to have everything, including LED-s with "current fixed" and special LED flasher relays.
