I have a 99 355 and the Originals have failed Im looking to see if anybody out there have any Fabspeed etc... for sale
Don't think it would be a good idea to go for a used 'fabspeed' set, 1300USD shipped for me, which is probably the cheapest solution out there. I have been told these ones are the exact design/material as the ones sold by fabspeed for a little under 3k USD. No one from fabspeed has cared to answer whether these are in fact a copy or the same ones they are selling, will let you know of the quality once my major service is done. I can provide a direct contact to the salesperson of the manufacturer if necessary, hope this does not constitute as 'hijacking' your thread or anything. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ive got my original '98 headers for sale... they are NOT blown by any means... I just wanted the upgrade and got Fabspeeds a while back, but I have both Right and Left OEM headers (used) if you want em. PM me for details/price, etc.
One unit 1300 + 70 Fed Ex, but thats to HK, which is very close to Taiwan. That was latest quote, I have asked them to hold pending more orders, if there are 6 sets its 900/set plus shipping. Thanks FX
The shipping isn't the problem to the states on the easy coast it was $145 But the vist if the headers was like 1800.00 so if u can get them at 900 plus shipping I'm interested
Damn I keep fat fingering this I phone The price I was quoted was 1800 for the pair. Now depending on how you think money will be handled and the shipping as in direct to me shipped and I pay them the money once you "strike up the deal"
If you consider that it's 1800$ per pair + shipping + customs, Fabspeed for me was still the better option. They sometimes offer discounts from their 2900$ price so all that combined with the fact that they had to modify it so it would adapt to my 1995 2.7, I'm ok with that....their profit margin isn't astronomical.
It's 900 per set price of two headers, 6 set MOQ excluding all shipping and 1300 for one set orderedindividually I have the quote and can send it to anyone interested by email, just pm your email to me, also those interested can send their address to Jason directly for a shipping quote, just say its with the Hong Kong order so if there is enough to meet the MOQ we all get them cheaper. Shipping depends on location, they quoted me 70usd to HK (very near to KS Taiwan where these are made) so US/UK deliveries will probably be more expensive. finally all wires/payment go directly to JIM, I have no interest apart fromeeting their MOQ and getting my set for cheaper! Interested parties Please contact Jason, the salesperson at JIM at [email protected]
although that sounds like a very good price, I did read somewhere that Chinese quality steel is inferior to U.S grade steel, however, if Fabspeed is using Asian/overseas source, I do think they should let their customers know. But at the same time, they do offer a lifetime warranty and no one has reported any issues.
Have to quantify that we are ordering from Taiwan, not the PRC so there should be less worries on steel or build quality, Taiwan is very different from the PRC in terms of how people do things and the manufacturing scene as a whole, yet I guess at this price we do have to factor in the risks of lower quality but the sales assure me that its the same design and materials as the fabspeed ones. Only way to find out is to actually order a pair and see how good/bad they are, as my @ss got handed to me for 'hijacking a thread' by m5guy here on the last thread I tried to get fabspeed to respond I don't think more time should be wasted to get fabspeed to tell us whether their design has been copied or that these people actually supply them. This is just an opportunity to get some very cheap headers. I do apologize to OP if this thread also constitutes as hijacking, but I think is just fair discussion on an alternate source for frugal owners to consider. Latest news from JIM: 1: we need 6 sets for 900usd price 2: one set is both left and right headers, not just one side 3:lead time is a week, payment made to JIM by wire upfront 4:they will dispatch and ship to multiple locations 5: product only fits Motronic 5.2 cars 6: there is no warranty on the product I guess the best scenario is to get a set to verify quality first, if the MOQ cannot be met, I guess I will be the one paying the little extra to be the tester on this one.
If they were 4-2-1 I would be all over this deal. I don't think I'd put free 4-1 collector headers on my F355, the pitch is lowered considerably, sounds similar to an F430....
Fabspeed did tell me they had to modify mine from 5.2 to 2.7 and they have never ever denied these weren't what they sell so I think we can all conclude with certainty that they are exactly what is being sold by Fabspeed. For 900 per pair, it would be foolish imho to use anything else. The build quality is very very good and with a nice 400$ ceramic coat job they are a steal! I have the full Fabspeed setup with test pipes (no cats) and a supersport exhaust from Nouvalari. I can tell you the sound and music my car makes is comparable to someone with a Capristo 3 (not quite as good but almost) and a hell of a lot better than any 430.
I would agree that it's a definite compromise, ferrari obviously designed the headers originally like that for a reason. My first choice was actually either do a repair with JPE or quicksilver but the price of these ones were too good to ignore. If they do sound terrible then ill send my original headers to JPE or quicksilver for repairs or learn to live with it. According to my research: JPE recondition: £1445.71 plus 160 shipping to HK and I have to send my manifolds there Contact [email protected] Quicksilver recondition: 2060 GBP inclusive of return shipping to HK but again I must send it Contact [email protected] Nouvari headers: 4200 USD with coating includes shipping Contact [email protected] Fabspeed: the question I asked was if they made the headers, this is their actual response: Yes we make the headers here, see the 458 headers being worked on in the photo. The headers are $2,995 +$400 for ceramic coating and $176 Shipping for a total of $3,571. Contact [email protected] So these were the prices I found. I was going to do fabspeed until my research indicates that they in fact do not manufacture the headers themselves, yet their sales person claim they do time and time again. It's a matter of principals and business ethics that I will decline to buy from fabspeed until they offer some kind of explanation. Not trying to go after anyone. Just thought that I had a right to know, especially when they told me that its made in USA.
I will just add this for what its worth. I just replaced my headers with new OEM ones. THe cost is $2700 right now from Ferrari. Of course they have the original designed heat shield and I was assured by FNA that they have been reengineered from the originals. They have a two year warranty.
I am interested in these headers but have some reservations. Has it been other owners experience that the 4 into 1 headers do indeed change the pitch of the engine? Would like to hear from some people that have installed the Fabspeed headers and the effect it had on engine sound. Really do not want to diminish or lose the F1 sound.
Tubis have none and the cost differential on having old ones fixed and no warranty either dismisses them for me.
Without getting into who told me what and why, I was advised personally by a well respected Ferrari tech on this board that this is the best solution out there right now, in his opinion. I was also advised by the owner of the shop who installed them that with the price that Ferrari is now charging for them that keeping the heat shields and the OEM continuity was in my best interest. They own 2 Ferrari dealerships and are an authorized factory service center so you can say of course they want to sell them to you. I don't think this outfit really cares about a few bucks in a part sale from me. The cost comparison made the the selection easy as well.
Does the Taiwan supplier offer the lifetime warranty like Fabspeed does? If so, this is a bargain... Everyone raves about tubi headers, Capristo Exhausts, etc...but these items cost an insane amount of money.... I have one of the nicest if not nicest sounding car in the Montreal Area and anyone can have that same setup for a very small price: Taiwan Fabspeed headers: 1300$ shipped gutted y-pipe and test pipes: 1000$ (or free if you gut your existing catted units) ceramic coating: 400$ Nouvalari Supersport exahust: 1400$ shipped TOTAL: 4100$ for a full setup!!!!! Amazing!!!!!
