A while back, I purchased my first automatic watch, a Hamilton Khaki Automatic Chronograph (see my past posts in this thread). Great watch for a beginner, and looks like some more expensive watches, IMO (i.e. IWC).

Just yesterday, I picked up a Hirsch Carbon Fiber strap for it, which gives the watch a much sportier look. I love it!

Sunday w/ my daughter. I usually take it out on a weekend for 30-60 miles drive. We park other cars accordingly on Friday, so I don't have to shuffle, like I need to during weekdays.

Watching my daughter fall asleep during the drive, I felt so warm & happy.

The battery died on my excercise watch, so I picked up a new watch at the local Costco for $60.

It's a Casio G-shock, that is solar powered, and corrects itself daily to the atomic clock in colorado.

Very neat watch. Has functions for world time, alarm, and, of course, stop watch. Very tough watch, should be able to wear it during excercise, and any activity that would potentially cause damage to my "nice" automatic watch.

And no more batteries running out on me. Are solar powered watches the automatics of the future?

I always sort of wanted to get a Girard Perregaux Ferrari watch

I've seen this split second one for sale on the internet (number 15 of 15)

Anyone got any idea what it's worth?

I have long been a watch nut and it is with great interest that I have followed the progress of this thread. Time (no pun intended) to put some pictures in myself. Here is a picture of my trusty steed. Worn day and night since 1995 with only one break for a service.

I recently got engaged to my longtime girlfriend who has inherited my passion for watches. She does not care for regular jewlery at all so to make things special, I got her a watch instead of a ring. Needless to say she was thrilled and here is a pic of it. It is a 1997 Vintage Chopard Mille Miglia with the rubber strap patterned like a Dunlop race tire. Small watches do not suit her well and this mens size watch is just perfect. Not only that, its racing theme acts as a little reminder of me whenever she checks the time.

Not at all. It is on the smaller side, actually. I have smaller wrists (sub 200lb bench press at the gym) and I find that 42 or 43 is my absolute limit. The GP is around 40 and probably 11 mm high.
Something like a Panerai, Breitling Bently, or even a Rolex Daytona looks stupid on my wrist. They are all way bigger than the GP.

Two more images from the web of the gp.

I just got used to wearing a small watch then, this thing gets in the way on long sleeve shirts for me. Mine's #454.

WOW! I looked this watch up because I knew nothing about it - amazing!! Is that your wife's? I think there's something absolutely fantastic about seeing a young child holding that watch. No idea what it's worth, and couldn't care less!

Or it's those thin girly wrists of yours! :)

I'me wearing my 41mm Omega today and it feels small after my 44mm Oris.

BTW Luke, I LOVE that new Chronoris. I'll be interested to hear how you like it.

Ah OK, thanks for the clarification! (sorry about that!) I found a ton of articles about Michael Jackson having to sell/pawn his and that wasn't helping me much with the gender thing :) Incredible watch!
