You are very, very, very BAD MAN.....I clicked on that link and purchased a Chopard Mille Miglia watch. It was not in the budget !!!! At least my winder is all filled up now...Tag, GP, Chopard, and the Oris.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Damn Luke, I was just looking at that SAME watch! I think I prefer the silver face version though. Look on the bright side, you'll never get another opportunity to buy that watch at that price.
mine was 2200 and small change, no shipping, no tax. Cheapest ebay and far east net vendors were $2500 + customs + shipping, etc. Not a huge savings, but it is fully warranteed, with serial # intact (only 2,000 pieces of each color, me thinks), as well as next day shipping from the US. I looked at the gray one at the local Nieman Marcus, and it did not work, for some reason. The gray was so light that the contrast between the chronos and the face was weak. Besides, red is for Italy and silver for Germany. I have sold my 911 C4 a long time ago...
Luke, good buy! Jimpo, I thought you have Mille Miglia already. I have white one, so you buy other color. There'll be all colors owned by F-chatters.
i can just imagine the scenario playing out at the next rally... Some guy offers to time the event with his chrono, or whatever, and then I step in: "But, Sir, do you have the officially certified chronomoter?" , glancing down at my red Chopard. The next sequence of events involves me getting pimpslapped by the guy with the A. Lange Sohne with 9 and a half complications...
Luke - good buy & good choice! I looked at the Chopards, Breitlings & Omegas and yours was at the top of those that caught my eye.
Hi. Some time ago I posted some info about Omega Moonwatches in this thread that mentioned that automatic watches don't work in zero gravity. The assumption was that the rotor wouldn't rotate in a weightless environment. This turns out not to be true. It's inertia, not gravity that causes it to rotate. As an automatic watch is moved, inertia makes the rotor want to stay where it is and as it is mounted on a spindle, it spins instead. Although I have not yet had the opportunity to test this theory in space personally, it does make sense. Some sources say that NASA chose the manual wind Omega Speedmaster for this reason but the reality is that automatic chronographs were not yet on the market in 1961. Not only that but I bet the NASA scientists knew a bit about inertia forces anyway and what we heard is just another wristwatch urban legend. It might not seem important now, but twenty years from now it will be nice to know that it doesn't matter which vintage Daytona chronograph you wear on your space ride. I just called and the their supplier scratches out the serial number for some brands (Omega, Tag)/ Ashford does not do it themselves. Fortunately, for my Chopard purchase, the serial number is intact. The downside is that they are not an authorized dealer for Chopard, so they offer their own warranty for 2 years (web site says 1 year), not via manufacturer. So I guess I will not be starting a credit card dispute with them (I would have if the serial number had been removed, as this was not disclosed) Thank you for posting a very valuable piece of info. It is amazing how you can trust someone because the web site looks professional and they have been around for a while. There is always more to every story/discount. I thought I did the research and read the fine print. In this case, I lucked out, and I am probably gonna keep the piece, but if I had shopped for a Tag and was a sloppy reader.....
I bought my Tag Kirium Chrono from them about 5 years ago. 18 months into ownership, it quit working. I sent it back to them for repair under their 2 year warranty (Tag warranty was only 1 year) and they sent me a brand new watch. I have no qualms about buying from them.
I called them at 6pm Pacific and the customer service guy was well educated and informative. He also seemed like a straight shooter. So far so good. Definitely beats calling Dell's CRM center.
well heres my little collection its not great no really good watches but im only 20 and i dont really have the funds to buy 3000+ watches but i will someday and i do love watches and thats what counts. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I thought a post like this would turn up in the watch thread eventually, although not to this extent. Absolutely stunning. Armen, care to share with us the history of that watch?

Just picked up a Rolex Datona. Black face Diamond Bezel 18K yellow Gold. This is my Favorite watch this week but have many others. I deal in them. If anyone out there needs a watch just let me know the model and vin number haha. Shop around and let me know the best price you can get and I will see if I can beat it. The best deals are pre-owned low mileage watches. Just like my 89 TR. Thanks, Boca Bob
