Anyone here other than me a storm freak? Love to watch them and record them. We need a thread dedicated to all things weather realted - with video/pictures of storms and weather events in addition a Q&A. As a novelty I heard a hilarious acronmy the other day on the weather channel. A PDS - potentially dangerous situation. That was a first. Funny how meterologist are always struggling to come up with that next cunning descriptive term referencing storms.
I love watching storms and being in them as there is something so awe inspiring about the power of mother nature.
Actually, a "PDS" is a term used by NOAA and the SPC in certain situations in their watches. They have been using this term since at least 1996. See this link.... http://www.spc.noaa.gov/publications/dean/pdswatch.pdf
Saw some great weather coming back from College Station Monday, especially in DFW where we drove through a tornado warning. Watching storms is a different experience when viewed on the open plain versus an urban setting where you can't get the whole picture.
That storm finally hit the eastside of Marlin (Falls County) lastnight. We got alittle heavy rain with alot of wind but nothing exciting.
There is nothing more enthralling than a rumbling thunderstorm in the distance that builds to hard-hitting bolts of lightning cracking right next to me. The roll of the thunder from east to west like stereo is so moving in a primal way. Lightning is hypnotic & addictive where Im always waiting for a more spectacular display of fireworks. And yes, Ive seen a tornado on the horizon that ripped across the open marsh. I could be a storm chaser Image Unavailable, Please Login
