78 RD400. I sent it to Vesco Yamaha out in El Cajon for porting and he gave it back to me without any suggestions. It was a dog with no bone until 5500, after that it would drain the float bowls in about 4 seconds. I'm not kidding, I had to get an oversized fuel valve and lines to keep it in fuel when I got on it. Put the nice Kerker pipes on it, and got some low bars, and a dumdum fairing with sticky tires. I came down from the apartment one morning to go to work and all I saw was a shopped up chain, and no bike. Really, really pissed me off. I looked for one a few months back, and was tempted to get another.
Back in 1982 I raced around Yorkshire on my pride and joy - RD350 LC - blue white and black - god I loved that bike, so proud of that twin disc over the single on the 250 - AH that smell of two stoke oil can you still buy " Bel ray" ?
