Sure....but you really don't know the car from the ad. That price may be right on the money for a car that is in excellent condition, but needs a major service, tires, alignment, and maybe cats or manifolds...which could easily add up to $15k or more total. It is definitely not believable for a car that you could "drive away" in and not worry about needed services and such.

True, but then it's not in "excellent" condition. And I know what you mean being that I just put $12K into my 355 needing just about everything you mentioned

"A rolling work of art." The ad says that because it has no engine! ;)

Salvage title = "damaged goods" = kiss of death for a Ferrari

You can cut the price 40% +/- and plan on taking a lot of time to re-sell it one day. At the same time, if you buy it right, you can sell it right and nobody will really know it's been whacked.

Expect the innocent story of how there was hardly any damage and the former owner demanded the insurance company total it cause he didn't want it back, etc, etc. Everyone selling a salvage has a story about why & how their car is not really a true salvaged car.

Here's the bottom line: if you can live, be proud and feel satisfied with a cubic-zarconia fake diamond on your wife's finger...then the salvage is the ticket. Part of owning these cars involves knowing that they are precious.

Friends don't let friends buy salvaged cars!

I like this answer from the E-bay ad:

"Thank you for your interest in the Ferrari. I tried to make the buy it now price 74,000 but it would not let me put in a higher amount for a reserve for some reason. So both the reserve and the buy it now are $54,000. It took it that way. Anyway, you can buy it now for $54,000.00"

Wow just because he made a mistake in listing he's willing to give a $20K discount, what a great guy. I smell a rat!

I don't doubt that there are a lot of "stories" out there but are you seriously suggesting that EVERY Ferrari ever wrecked should be parted out?? I have no doubt that THIS guy is NOT on the up-and-up but, if he WERE willing to explain things, let you get it inspected, and the repairs were documented and done properly, why not get a good deal? Just expect to have to do the same when selling it.

If you really think all wrecked Ferraris should be parted out, most of the vintage cars would be gone now! Your comparison with diamonds and CZs is not even close. This isn't a replica or facsimile, it is a Ferrari.
