wow, a bit testy are we?. the guy went away and wont be back till next week. and i was referring to the newest dbs v12. the one in the bond movie.
I drive a 2010 manual DBS volante. I love the car. It reminds me a lot of the 550 I had in 2000. It's firmer (on sport), faster, has gobs more road presence, and the build quality and fit and finish are significantly better. Compared to the older Astons (I bought a new Vanquish in 2004 which I sold and took a bath on in 2005), the DBS is in a different league.
thanks for that. good to hear about build quality. i note that you have the manual, which i am told is the way to go - who makes the gearbox? is it zf? i love the sound of the dbs, and it does have a lot of presence. are the coupe back seats big enough for adults, or is it for legless midgets only?
I don't know who makes the gearbox. It's pretty good, though. The clutch is very light and has good feel. The shifter is short enough for rapid shifts and moves easily and smoothly through the gears. It doesn't feel as tight as the gated shifter in the 550 but I think it works just as well and is easier to use. I don't know whether the back seats are smaller in the volante, but they are completely useless. I'm 6' and my seatback abuts the rear seat cushion. Each seat can hold a small dog or a bag of groceries.
I just bought one that will be delivered in a week or two...I'll give a comparative review upon arrival
