I am collecting anecdotes about colorful car collectors. Sometimes the person that owned the car is more interesting than the car itself! One such person I am researching is Lou Ritter -- a furrier in NYC first and then he went into commercial real estate. I can only surmise that Lou Ritter was quite a character by his cars, such as the Phantom III he had rebodied before the war in Paris into a art deco boattail, and after the war the Saoutchik Cadillac sedanca de ville. He would spend a lot of money on a car and then dump it at low cost when he got bored with it. Also has rep as lady's man (I forgot the name of his movie star girlfriend). There must be more colorful stories about Ritter but maybe only old-time NYC car fans know of him.

His Cadillac must have used all the chrome plating available that year

The RR I saw while sitting in a restaurant on Sunset STrip around '70-72. A friend said "You oughta get that car, it's art deco" but I didn't know art deco. Now 40 some years later, I know art deco but the car is a million dollar car now.
