I'm getting a 355 and it currently has test pipes. That won't pass emissions here in California and I'm not really looking to install cats for smog and take off every 2 years. In addition, I plan on getting a Capristo or Armytrix exhaust and it will be too loud with test pipes.

So anyone here have a new/used set of high flow cats for a 5.2 355? I'm partial to Hyper flow and Fabspeed would be my second choice.

    Thanks!

Will you pass California emissions if your cats do no look original?

Maybe a re-core is the way to go.

Technically I will not pass the visual but the same goes for the headers and the car has Fabspeed headers. I was going to do the re-core you mentioned initially because I thought the car had OEM cats but since it has test pipes, I don't want to spend the money to buy OEM cats and then re-core them.

I know a few smog places where they won't do the visual so I'll be fine. From what I've read 200 cell cats shouldn't have an issue passing California smog.

Someone else can confirm, but I'm not sure Hyper-flows will pass the sniff test. Perhaps California Mitchell can chime in.

I have read here that one or two guys with Fabspeed cats have passed it.

I have never seen a car with Hyperflows pass California sniff tests.

That does not mean they don't, I just have never seen one. And I have seen quite a few.

That appears to just be a universal core. Wouldn't fit a 355 without some flanges, fittings and welding (if they would fit at all)

I run Hyperflows and passed smog at a star station in Orange County. I was a bit concerned as this was my first experience in taking her through a Star rated station, but not one question was raised despite the presence of Hyperflows or the Tubi. They were installed a few years back, so they have "blued" over time and are therefore not as noticeable, which may have been to my benefit - results are noted in the attachment. She was placed on the block, with full test implemented, tech did ok pulling her on.

Glad you were able to get them. I have a set of factory cats that need to be re-cored, should anyone else be looking for some empty factory cats to fill, let me know and I am sure we can work something out.
