By the way, I think #5 is actually an IMPROVEMENT over the original.

    Dear Clueless,

Don't be so hard on yourself. Apparently I'm the only one who thinks that Paul Anka performing covers of 80's and 90's popular rock music is somewhat humorous.

    Sincerely,
    Unfunny in Texas

I've heard of Paul Anka although I thought he was from the 1950s or something. I kinda get him confused with Franky Avalon. Or something. And then I think of my mother-in -law driving her Avalon and wonder if she calls it Franky. Then my head gets all wonky.

I didn't recognize the song either. Was it a popular song? Guess they don't play it on CNBC.

    Yer pal,

    Clueless

I think that's Pat Boone, but same concept. Aging performer looking for fresh blood.

Let's also not forget Johnny Cash's rendition of "Rusty Cage" by Soundgarden. No one will argue that that remake re-introduced "The Man In Black" to a whole new audience, myself included.

It's a song called "Jump" by Van Halen... If CNBC didn't play it during the dot com bust, then they really missed an opprotunity for low-brow comedy.

It was originally popular right around the time you were stuck in a hospital 24/7 learning how to stick your finger you-know-where. Understandable that you don't remember it because you were probably busy. :D

Did anyone hear Paul Anka on the Howard Stern Show the other day? He was promoting his new album & talking about the old days of the Rat Pack in Vegas, Elvis' mental issues, screaming at his band, etc... It was a great interview.
