Due to the gopher issue I am going to use some wire baskets to keep them from destroying everything. Great pics - looks like you're just a few days away from bloom. That's an exciting time in the growing season. Best of luck!
Great thread! Don't know how I missed it before. Used to live in N Calif and spent every weekend wandering wine country. I really favor Foothills wines. Close friends have a vineyard & winery in Somerset/Fair Play. I like the tannins and briariness that comes from the foothills. The heat and terrior help with some really awesomely intense red wines. I gave up on my dream to get 40 acres up there and plant Zinfnadel, Petite Sirah, and Sangiovese. Barbera would be another one that would work well in that area. If you want to go Super Tuscan, you will need to add in Merlot of Cab, but personally, I'd take a look at Malbec first and get some opinions on how it will fair over the more traditional Cab/Merlot in your area.
Great thread! I had a laugh that I recognized the word terroir from that James May program. I guess I learned something.
My father has some vineyards in Madeira, the grapes are used to make Madeira Wine, that I'm sure you all have drank
Vines still in good shape lots of growth, some even have grapes, I need to find out if i should pull those off the fist few years, allowing more growth to the vine. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
