About a 2 weeks ago I was at one of the local cruise nights, located at Veterans @ Clearview and saw a guy with a black Daytona replica. The guy also made it a point to let me know that he owned several "real" Ferraris. Anyway when I started to talk F-cars with him, he immediately became evasive and started blowing me off. What I found even funnier was that once I started to walk away he immediately popped his trunk, and was trying to sell a set of Chevrolet valve covers contained therein to some hot rodder type. Don't know if anybody knows this dude, but I gonna pull his card and say he is full of S**T.

Yea, he lives(ed?) in Gautier, MS; I use to see him alot at the "Cruisin the Coast" events. He would usually bring his Black Daytona Replica and a red 512 (or Testarossa, can't recall exactly). I'm suprised he blew you off like he did; he seemed very open to me and loved to talk about his cars, I also got to sit in the 512 ( might be just because I'm young though). I knew the first time I saw the 365GTB4 that it wasn't real because I knew nobody around had an authentic Daytona Spider!! He told me that the Daytona's engine was actually a Corvettes. I thought he said it was a real Ferrari body, though. But I must be wrong, because that doesn't make sense. Anyway, I haven't seen him in a few years so if you saw him over in Clearview, he might have moved.

I guess it could be the same guy. His was a McBurnie replica ( he did show me that much) and was pretty good as compared to some of the crap I have seen. If I remember correctly he said he bought it a year or two ago from some place up north ( NJ I believe). He was out there with his wife and a few young kids (don't know if they were his) who were sitting all over the car, jumping in and out, and walking across the interior. Like I said I really don't know the guy, but he came off like he was full of crap. I say that because once I really started to talk with him (and it became apparent I knew what I was talking about) he started to blow me off and tried to create a bit of distance. OTOH, he seemed more than happy to talk with the typical cruise night types that were less apt to reconize the car as a replica and had limited knowlege of Ferraris.
Still, I guess the guy could have just been having a bad night, what with all the friggin kids stomping around the inside of the car like it was the family minivan.
