This weekend, hopefully, my friend and I will be driving to Calgary (we are from Olds) for the sole purpose of car sightings. Well, that's my idea. I think he just likes to get out and see new things, whether they be exotic cars or not. I was wondering if you guys knew of anything, or anywhere (probably on Saturday, for most of the day) that I could go to heighten my chances of seeing an exotic in its "natural habitat". If there are no responses I will just drive there and try my luck, however any help would be greatly appreciated to sort of point me in the right direction. Thank you all.

Natural sightings are a little harder than captive ones, but you can try some of these:

Go to 17th ave. Look in the TO section and you'll see alot of Yorkville sightings. While I can't promise anything like that, 17th ave between 4th and 14th street is "our Yorkville" and should provide some action for you. Try Melrose's patio; nice place to grab a beer and watch everything go by.

Try 4th street south of 17th ave. It's like a continuation of that section of 17th ave. Lots of patios again, hopefully the weather is right.

Try Kennsington, both Kennsington rd and 10th street. Same kind of trendy area with the same kind of shops and pubs. Just north of downtown across the Bow river.

When you come, you do of course have to go to ZR. Also, try KDS' place on 1st street SE just off of 42nd avenue (off Macleod trail).

I see, sounds great. I was actually not going to stop by ZR, because I am only 16 years old and each time I go there I feel unwanted. Although I don't like the fact that I'm stereotyped as "just another teen", I cannot really blame them so there are no hard feelings. I will just get my ZR fix from their upcoming events.

I was considering 17th ave, and thinking about maybe stopping by KDS' place if I could get directions so I'm glad I was sort of on the right track.

    Thanks for the help

Don't be ridiculous. Go to ZR Auto for certain.

Introduce yourself to Zahir and you will find he is the nicest guy in the world.

I should be there myself on Saturday to pick up my car. If you are there at the same time, I will take you for a ride in my Novitec 360.

I am pleasantly surprised by the hospitality of the people at this site, all of this help is great.

As a 16 year old, sometimes it is kind of hard to get into the scene, especially when there are few other people your age involved in it. People disregard me at shows, and snub me off.

Since I have been posting here, the amount of encouragement I get has been overwhelming and it makes everything that much better. It seems obvious that you guys know how good it makes a car enthusiast feel when you give them the time of day, even when they are a complete stranger.

I think I will stop by ZR, on second thought. Afterall, I have not seen a Murcielago Roadster in person yet, and a ride in a Novitec 360 (if I were lucky enough to see glenn there) I'm sure would be an experience I would never forget.

I do have a question, though: Is the man between the F40 and Espirit in this picture Zahir?

    http://supercarfreak.net/gallery/album870/IM000867

If so, I have never seen him in the showroom on any of my ZR Auto visits. Would the other salesmen be as friendly to me if I were to walk in and introduce myself?

Again, thank you all for the consideration and companionship. I hope I can meet some of you in person at some point down the road.

    Nope, that's not him.

And yes, the salesmen are very friendly. Again, just introduce yourself. And if that doesn't work, threaten to buy a German car instead. That will get their attention.

    Tanner,
I'll be bringing my old testarossa down to ZR on Friday for them to work on it Saturday. Like Glenn, I'll be happy to show you a great ferrari that was built before you were born.

And don't be a wuss... you can not be a car enthusiast, be in calgary and not go to ZR Auto Sales. That is just not right.

glenn -- I will have to try that :D

That would be awesome. My friend's dad used to have a 512TR, I don't remember much of it as I was only about 10 years old, and a good look at a Testarossa would probably bring back old memories (as well as create new ones!)

    Tanner:

DEFINITELY go to ZR. I am 20 years old now (still VERY young compared to some poeple here :)) but I know what your saying about the "teenage treatment". One thing you have to remember is there are jerks out there that will treat you like garbage no matter how old you are. One thing for sure is Zahir is not one of them. I dont know him on a personal basis, but actually, that goes to prove the fact that he is a real nice guy. Every time I visit the shop he always greets me. Once, I pulled up in my car (its got a horse on the front...but...not a prancing one!) and at the same time someone else pulled up in this awesome Porsche (I think it was a GT2, but im not sure). Anyways, it was pretty clear that I was there just to drool over the cars, while the other guy might very well be there to BUY a car. Nevertheless, Zahir still had the time to chat with me about the cars. And it wasnt just "Do you have any questions", it was "You should see the three new cars we just got in. There in the servicing bay, come have a look"

For guys like us who have never ridden in or even sat in a Ferrari this kind of stuff goes a long way. And the same goes for the people who post on this board. Both Glenn and Myhorse have taken the time to respond to my PMs, answer my questions, chat about their personal cars, etc. Like I said, for young guys like myself, this sort of thing goes a long way!

Anyways, enough rambling. Go to ZR!

    Glenn:

Do you keep your 360 in the showroom or is it tucked away?

    Warren.

It's an ongoing project, so it's constantly getting something upgraded on it. I'm a bit OCD and ADD like that.

Right now it's getting a Novitec lowering system placed. We decided to drop it an inch. Hopefully it will be ready for Saturday.

glenn, Myhorse -- I was just wondering if you had any idea what time would be best for me to go to ZR if I was hoping to see you (or at least your cars) there. Any idea?

I should be there at noon, or shortly beforehand.

Please wear a bright pink tuxedo and swim goggles so that I can pick you out of the crowd.

    Thank you in advance.

    I'll tell you what.

My partner is picking up his 360 as well at the same time. I will see if he will spring for a ride for you and the four of us can all go at the same time.

    If...

you and Tanner get a membership to Fchat. I think it's only fair that since we are using Rob's board for messaging we should give something back to the community.

For myself, I don't want anything for the ride. Just hearing people scream is thanks enough.
