Hey folks, it's Sunday and I'm bored.

Anybody know the Euro spec '85 308 that is listed with Forza motorsports?

It is #7 in the list at http://www.forzamotorsports.com/

Clearly repainted (taillights swapped), metrics, and who knows what mileage it actually has (km or miles), but the work looks good in the pictures and the price seems reasonable to me.

Comments, both constructive and (as usually happens) destructive, are encouraged.

    Thanks in advance,
    Reid

Looks OK but I would rather have the yellow 77 below it for similar money.

The 85 308 is a euro alright...but did someone swap that front bumper for a U.S. spec one???? Front end repair?

Aren't the front turn signal lenses supposed to be amber-clear ? (for Euro.)

Thanks for the info so far-

The front looks like a US retrofit. I am in agreement that there was perhaps some damage or another odd issue with the car that led to re-fitting a US bumper on a Euro car. Certainly a concern. The grill is missing the horse as well, which should be there for an '85 Euro car.

Decoding the VIN, it is a definitely a Euro car. I ran a Carfax on it and there is nothing other than the import in 1985. Not a single title change, no service, no salvage. Very odd.

It also has the square side door mirrors instead of the rounded euro ones. It has the correct rear deck lid and no exhaust diaper but does not have the federally mandated third brake light that was added in 1985. Mine had it installed. Looks okay IMO

Don't be too quick to judge a repaint ONLY by the position of the taillights. There have been threads about this on Fchat before. General opinion is that taillights were installed in whatever configuration the worker felt like on that particular day at the factory.

Another thing to consider regarding the front bumper in particular, is the relatively hap-hazard way that Euro, grey market cars were federalized, especially during the later 80's. Its possible that this one had the US bumper installed as part of its EPA/DOT stuff. Ive seen this sort of thing before. A good example of this is the Lamborghini Countach of the same vintage. Look at any two brought into the U.S. and they will have a miriad of differences in details, including bumpers.

Don't know the car, but i can say that Peter Sweeney, who owns / runs Forza is the most honest and reputable dealer I have ever come across. I have bought and sold multiple cars from him / to him and he has always been 100% on the level. Only guy in the business i would buy a car from no inspection site unseen. That is saying something.

    Alex,

Thanks for the sentiment. I searched Fchat for Peter and your comments seem to ring true across the board.

that was 1986. If you have a 3rd tail light on an '85, it's aftermarket.

The engine looks better than most 308's that I see. The interior looks nice too...no crack that stand out on the driver's seat. Interesting US/Euro combo look.

HOLY COW! I would save up for the Dry Sump 76 glass 308 that they have!

........'glass car has wonky ceiling console, aftermarket...

No, on the tailights 1975 -77 documentation is clear

Owner's Manual shows amber outboard, that's still the Law worldwide....

Mistake upon reinstallation, easily fixed if the mounting studs are good.......

That's a nicely done North American Version bumper/ grill combo...most likely to fade the heat upon import............no points off, IMO...

none of the 308s have ponies in the grill that's for posuers!....LOL!

I was sure I had read that it was the opposite, ambers to the inside, so of course I had to go look in "my" 77 owners manual. You are right sir. page 110 shows this clear as day. Mine were ambers out to begin with and I put them in ambers in. Now I gotta go fix it again.

The only instance where I would be concerned regarding rear tail-light configuration is in the instance where I suspect repaint or bodywork in the rear of the car. Otherwise, the factory has been known to issue/deliver cars with red lights outboard, or amber lights outboard. The standard is amber outboard, however these lights are easily moved/swapped so as long as they work, they are easy to change to the config you prefer.

Yes I too would like to chime in how great Pete Sweeney is, he is a HUGE Ferrari fan, loves the cars and knows them very well. I had the pleasure of meeting him the day I bought my 308 GTS QV! Pete is awesome!!
