Yes it's supposed to be because it does not obstruct view of the plate. I guess you can't really even tell, it's just that the coating is so reflective that when the camera flash is taken it whites out the camera

on his car, or something like it anyhow... I don't know if it defeats the camera's or not, but you sure can't see the plate, unless you're at an even angle with it, can't be above, below, or to the side.

It's like watching a 1980's era rear projection TV.

From what I've read it does work if the camera uses a flash. However, very few of the speed and other law enforcement cameras now in use use a flash...at least not here in Georgia. Such plates will soon be illegal in Georgia.

Yes, the spray only works if the camera system has the bright white flash. However, it's useless against the new digital camera systems.

Want to make a small fortune? Somebody out there should invent flip down frames for your plate that are remote controlled from inside. James Bond-like.
If people are buying these license plate trinketts, they sure as hell will buy that. I'd run with it, but I don't have the time.

My boss has the rear plate on his street bike on a hinge and spring setup. He reaches back and smacks it, and it retracts into the rear section of the bike. Then he can reach back and pull it down. Very cool setup. It is completely hidden from people and cameras when up and looks normal when down. I'll post some pictures. If someone came up with a cool remote setup for a car, I think they would become more wealthy than the ikea guy.

If camera uses a flash, and its illegal to use the spray, How can the law be inforced if the camera can't read your plate?? Just wondering...

call me ignorant, but I'm surprised that the cameras even have a flash... Maybe at night they do (which would be obvious) but I find it surprising that the flash would be utilized during the day. (oh you mean you guys drive at night too? :p )

Anyways... I stopped a car a while back and noticed he had a license plate blocker. I think it's basically a piece of plexi or lexan that is cut in such a way that you can read the plate from "straight on" (ie: behind vehicle) but the lettering is obscured from an angle (ie: from a camera's point of view). Point is - I don't think it has much to do with the flash but with the camera angle.

    My 2 cents.......

I have an old street racing video somewhere I think where the one car had a plate that flipped up and a bright light under it. Definitely not legal.

well, you could get that stuff and a bright white light activated by a switch so when you hit the switch, it blocks out the plate...

For 350 bucks, that stealthkit seems not worth it. If you're so gungho about protecting your identity, just drive around with a novelty plate from a plate company like http://www.licenseplates.tv/ (where you can even get european plates and custom lettering) If a cop pulls you over, just say you just came from a car show and you have your plates in your glove box and can put them on immediately.
