Are you referring to Plasti Dip? I've done grilles and trim with it -- and gotten decent results -- but never wheels. Are you looking for a matte finish?

I haven't had any of it come off yet. You do have to apply it with several light coats, and it's supposedly easy to remove but I've never tried.

I've seen dipped wheels in person, and they looked okay, but not as good as paint or powdercoat.

FChatter WJHMH PlastiDip-sprayed his Mini a few years ago. Looked pretty good. Might PM him if he doesn't catch this thread.

I did it on my old Porsche wheels and looked good as a matte finish. If possible take them off the car to do it.

does this product only result in a matte finish? i am not expecting shiny, but at least satin?
and if i did the wheels, would i be able to wash them or just spray off?

It's called Plasti Dip and there are literally hundreds of videos of DIY on youtube, here's an example.

I have bought all the supplies and am getting ready to do a set on one of mine to see if I like the color change rather than painting them or powder coating. If it lasts I will just keep it on and not do either. Cost was around $70 for all 4 wheels shipped. I am going high gloss, so order the clear.

Going to take them off to do them.

You should be able to wash them -- at least by hand.

I have no experience with the "Glossifier" which is a product you apply after the regular Plasti Dip.

I would say if you're expecting Gloss black, then paint or powder coat is the way to go -- long term.

If you just want to see if you can live with the wheels in Black, then PD is an option because you can take it off without affecting the paint underneath.

I did the front grilles on my CTS-V and it stood up fine to road use.

In my experience you have to do many light coats rather than one thick one, especially so it won't run.

When they say it comes off, it does but I wouldn't expect to peel the entire coating off in one piece :D

Don't do it mate, not on a nice Italian car. Have wheels professionally refinished. If you Plastidip your F40 wheels we're going to need to have an intervention.

Just whatever you can see when you look at the wheel from the outside.
