I am a member of linkedin.com... What have you heard about OpenBC business networking? What's the website? I don't see it on google...

 

guys - be thoughtful about these services.

as a general rule, they do not have a viable business model. the VCs went a bit insane a while back and funded the whole lot of them en masse with irrational money.

play the hand out.

at some point they will run out of cash. i don't believe ANY of them will be able to raise more money. so they'll have to liquidate.

they have one and ONLY ONE real asset: all of your information. informationa bout you, your contacts, your networking behavior, and your network. regardless of whatever their privacy policy says today, this information will be sold and exploited.

I joined linkedin.com about a month ago and already tapped 4 alumni based on their background through their database that was not in my school alumni directory and successfully contacted other people who work in the respective companies and industry I want to get into.... I would say from my personal experience, it's far more useful than a monster.com or other internet job boards with useless leads, and headhunters posting bogus jobs to collect resumes...
