There is a type of glue called "Goop"

To me, it appears to have a mix of the properties of cyanoacrlyate (super glue) as well as a silicone. I can smell the acetic acid in it. When dispensed from the tube, it quite quickly dries into a tacky, gummy substance.

I have an application where I am joining two pieces of plastic. They need to be securely held, but a very rigid joint (like I'd get with an epoxy or CA glue) would be sub-optimal. Some competitors use hot-melt glue but this can be a problem unless it's high-temp HM glue because the product is subject to some heat (not a ton but maybe 130deg F - enough to seriously soften most HM glues).

So, does the kind of glue I described sound familiar? The "goop" company does not seem to sell it in quantity of industrial applications. Based on my description does someone know what category of glue I'm talking about?

Any help is very helpful :)

You could try my CA. It's decent and works well on plastic. I'll mail you a sample.
