Some people's troll alert may be going off right now, but this is a question not just aimed at Ferrari's, but also applies to anything you waited and longed for, only to be disappointed when you finally acquired it.

My personal story: I longed for a Ducati for years while in college, but being broke as most undergrads are, it was not possible. June 1, 1996 (3 weeks after graduation) I bought my dream bike, a Ducati 851. I had wanted one since 1990 when they started being imported into the US. This one was 6 years old with 1100 miles on it. Anyway, I had to wait a week for the dealership to prep and service the bike. The week of 6/1-6/8 was one of great anticipation, culminating with pickup of the bike and a nice morning ride home. When I got home I smelled gas, and within 30 minutes had the bodywork off the bike to trace down a fuel leak in the fittings buried under the tank. I remember telling my friend at the time that I thought it would have been at least a month before I had the bodywork off, not 10:00 a.m. the first day. Since then there have been a few reliability issues, but for the most part it has been OK. I still love it, but the rose glasses came off rather quickly.

Has anyone ever waited and sacrificed to finally own your dream car (whether it be Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche, whatever), then when you finally got it, asked yourself "is this it?"

Yup same thing happened to me few months ago too.Well i have longed for a 911 Turbo ( whale tail & flared fenders ) for almost half my life and back in feb '04 i finally bought my dream car a 1991 C2 Turbo with only 24,xxx miles.
To cut long story short, the car needed tires,Cd player & a/c won't work and to make things worse the car died on me in the middle of the road with a faulty fuel pump and imagine, all this in the first week of my ownership.
To tell you the truth i even tried to sell the car, half heartedly, but couldn't as it took me almost a year to find one and even if i had sold it i still would have longed for the same car. After giving it some thought i finally decided to fix all those issues and to tell you the truth i love it now.Besides those issues the car is flawless, comes with all the service history and the required maintenence and infact i'm just after spending $2000 on various mods. However i think i would have enjoyed the car 60% more had i not gone thru all that mental anguish and frustration.
O forgot to mention the car supposedly have PPI done too but always wondered what they did in the PPI though.Btw the car's nor sale any more.

It wasn't a Ferrari, but the day I bought my first Ducati 916 (I bought another after the first was run over by a car while parked) it died in rush hour traffic on the way home from the dealier b/c of a faulty voltage regulator. The dealer had none in stock and it took them close to 3 weeks to source a replacement. That certainly took the bloom off the rose.

My first Countach in '82 was a let down. It was my dream car for 9 years, and didnt measure up. Didnt stop me from buying many more though, after I re-adjusted my dreams to reality. My 348 was a huge dissapointment. Of course it followed on the heels of 5 TR's I owned in the 80's. No comparison.

When I bought my Ferrari, I was expecting insane repair bills and something wrong always.

I was also expecting the steering (never driving a car without power steering before) to be a headache and the clutch to be a nightmare. I hoped for the best, but always planned for the worse. The biggest fear was when I sat inside, I would not 'feel right' and not be able to confidently pilot the car.

Well I was wrong on a number of issues, the feel was perfect. The clutch a breeze, the steering heavenly.
The car is a dream to drive and feels just right to me when I am stilling inside.

The car has lived up to my expectations in upkeep but exceeded them in many regards. I disregard the upkeep costs, even though they put a sting on the pocketbook at times, since its the cost of love.

I have the same feelings. My 86TR within two weeks devolped an overheating problem and waiting for the tow truck on a sunday morning at 8am was a B****H. Then I worried about the single nut flyingoff because I heard somemany stories of them coming off. 5 Years later I find myself still checking my one nut (no laughter please) before each drive and my eyes every minute or so always looking at the temps. That fear is still with me to this day unfortunately. Aside from this no regrets.

The day I brought my new Ferrari home, I had just paid a guy $2,000 to replace the fuel lines, a few coolant lines, and all the belts.....when I pulled into the garage for the first time, the car was bleeding coolant, oil, and gasoline, all at the same time, onto the floor culminating in a sick vapid puddle under the engine. Now we're down to a small coolant leak somewhere.....the search continues....
