I know this is way off topic, but I am sure some of you have gone to China and wanted to find out what things should not be missed in going there.

I have never been there so I wanted to get advice form people that have gone what they thought was the best and even places to avoid.

    Thanks!

Hong Kong is wonderful. We were there many moons ago ('74) when under British rule. Tram up Victoria Peak - cucumber club sandwiches and lots of Tiger beer; Jimmie's Kitchen was great; dinner cruise in the harbor was great; another restaurant (name slips me right now - perhaps John can furnish it) - way too much wine but splendid dinner; ferry ride in second class (neat); hydrofoil to Macau - neat place. Bought lots of neat goodies at Fashion Terminal. Monsoon came and had to stay an extra day - darn the bad luck.

    Have fun!

You have handful on your schedule already.

I know little bit about Shanghai, but not Beijing. (never been there)

I would go to herb shops & pick up some neat ones like deer's horn, swallow's nest, shark fins, bear's palm, etc.

Have a wonderful time! (I will go to the Great Wall someday)

I never lived in Texas, but visited often. I think I've turned down 5 job offers now in Houston. :)
