looks like a nice resort, just wondering if any of you guys have stayed here? thinking of a snow coverred getaway http://www.mohonk.com/
I have been there a few times, but not in the past few years. I know that they did some major renovations and added a nice recreation center, pool, etc. It really is a very classy place. A bit rustic, old world charm. It can be very relaxing, very romantic, and if you like the outdoors, there is tons of hiking and exploring to be done on their property. The food is pretty decent too, and meals are included. It's not cheap, but it is well worth it, as long as you are not looking for modern glitz and bling. One warning though -- be sure to check their website for special events weekends. They have all kinds of special things going on, from Oldies weekends, to language classes, to Feng Shui, to ballroom dancing lessons. You might want to be sure you're not there on a weekend that will be focused on something you are repulsed by. Or you might want to go on a weekend when they are doing something you'd really like to do.
nope, thank the alchohol gods ...Our award-winning wine list (Wine Spectator, 2006) offers a wide range of selections to accompany your meal. For those who would like to enjoy a beverage during the evening hours, the West Lounge is open from 5-11 p.m. daily, serving cocktails and light fare.
I have stayed there. It was nice, but the caveats are a tiny room, no TV (a plus or a minus depending on your view) and NO BAR! Although, perhaps that has been fixed.
Another place to consider is Skytop. It is about 90 miles from the city. It is a simler type of resort. I don't know if they have snow there or not yet. www.skytop.com
A friend in Manhattan's Mohonk page http://africanprince.com/notebook.php?notebook=6 As for me, got a peripheral view of Mohonk when I went to New Paltz @ 10+ years ago while on business at Gateway Community Manor (not-for-profit agency devoted to training and development of mentally and physically challenged adults).
Both are nice, mohonk has more do do on the grounds, Skytop is just a motel and nice restuarant, actually the food is excellent and they have a micro brewery on premise. Skytop is closer to the ski resorts, about 45 minutes. If you take up your f-car, give a hollar, maybe I can be persuaded to take mine out of the stall dave
